yeah it was against buffalo. You'd think that with the offense playing like shit that day, a coach might want to try something new..... oh wait, Mangini making adjustments? I'm dreaming.
If he doesnt get 15-20 touches EACH AND EVERY GAME (that he is healthy, knock on wood really hard) im going to loose a lot of faith in Shotty. Not like i have much to begin with. That's just on the ground. In the air, another story.
Every coach always says they'll get the backup more touches. Most don't put their money where their mouth is. Leon should get the ball more, but not 300 times. Even though he probably should.
I think the preseason showed that Leon is going to get the touches... it isn't like they're concealing a secret weapon in Thomas Jones... Jones will get the short yardage stuff, Washington the long.
i double checked - the BUF game was the 1 carry and against KC he had three, and a 60 yard TD run. another game that needed an adjustment from the offense. I fucking hate mangini's playcalling. the browns are winning 4 games.
Question is, was it Mangini or Schotty. Hopefully it was Mangini. I'm hoping Rex's hands off approach has some input like - feed Leon the ball more, and run the fucking ball more against this shitty run D.
Not that we could ever really know for sure but based on everything I've read it seemed to me like Mangini was a serious micro-manager.
when thinking about it - since we have seen leon this much, maybe schotty has full control now. Only once have I hated the play call, and that was the reverse to Stuckey on their own 9. Its only preseason, but i still wonder. And if Ryan has to point out the obvious like "run the ball against the shitty defense, don't pass" then its time for Schotty to go. If Cavanaugh ends up being the OC so be it. He ran the offense with the 2000 Ravens. He knows how to manage a game and let the defense win. But he now has a much better QB in Sanchez then he ever did with Dilfer or Tony Banks. ewww
I dunno if it would mean it's time for him to go. He may just need some guidance if Rex can provide it. He does have a fairly creative system, maybe he just tends to out think himself at times and needs someone to slap him upside the head with the obvious. I'd hate to see Sanchez have to learn a new system in his second season. That would obviously stunt his growth. It seems like a good possibility whether he does very well or very poorly though.
he faster and hits the hole better. Barber's pass blocking was good from what I heard and remembered. Leon needs to get better but i know he has improved this year.
Most years Tiki had a big running back sharing the load and he retired after he had to carry the load by himself for a year. Look at Reggie Bush, they ran him too much and he is almost a bust now. Leon is a great 3rd down/ change of pace / screen back. We can't pound him down the middle all day. ***I am trying to save you leon!**** I love Leon but he is no Curtis.
No reason that Leon can't be the feature back. Show him the love and the money and start him but you can't have him as KR or PR. Too much to ask and to risky. He could be the next Barry Sanders. Who knows?
