If this is true, I'm happy. We get a very good young QB that many people think very highly of and a mid-2nd rounder.
Woah. What a day! If this is true this is a great deal, going back to the very root of it, we technically traded John Abraham and Jon McGraw for Schaub and a second round pick... not to Schaubby!
Not going to believe it until I see a link. Anyone can post any made up trade they want. No offense meant to the OP.
NOT HAPPENING YET.... The Falcons on Friday reached an agreement with Abraham on a multi-year contract, a high-ranking team official and several league sources confirmed. The next step: Reaching a trade agreement with the Jets on appropriate compensation for the standout defensive player. heres the link http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2372951
I see more upside in Ramsey than Brees actually. Ramsey has a solid arm, Brees is actually weaker than Pennington imo. I don't really think we need to spend our 1st rounder on a QB anymore actually. We're in a good spot to maybe trade down. I'd still probably take the gamble on VY maybe, but otherwise I dunno. I'd feel better trading down to around the 7th or so.
I don't believe it, consider this other guy's post is: http://forums.espn.go.com/espn/thread?forumID=821&threadID=3341072&lastPostID=20956917 and ESPN Radio has been broadcasting the NCAA Basketball games.
Id be surprised if he didnt, hes a great player, a far better player in my opinion than Schaub or whoever well end up with for that second round pick. But for whatever reason, keeping Abe just wasnt in the cards. Picking up Schaub is perfect. If Pennington cant come back, Schaub seems to have the goods to be a long term starter. If Pennington can come back and live up to the potential he showed in the 02 season, then Schaub is young enough to still have a LOT of trade value. So in my humble opinion, theres really no way to lose here. Other than if Pennington couldnt come back and Schaub were to end up sucking. Then wed lose big time.
LOL the same thing is being said on the ATL boards about us having the upper hand in dealing with the jets. HEHE. I persopnally believe that the jets are kinda in a lose lose situation. First you are going to lose a premier DE. SEcond no way are you getting the 15th pick out of the falcons for him, or Schaub for that matter. Third ABE has already said he wants to play with ATL and not Seattle. Seattle just spent a bunch of their money on some signings so I dont think that they are going to have the capacity to get a deal done with abe even if Seattle was willing to give up the 31st. Abe wants to play for Atlanta and has even agreed to a deal with them. Now its up to the Falcons to come up with a deal the Jets will accept. They have already said they will NOT be giving up Schaub or the 15th and the JEts realized this was the truth and signed Ramsey. I would be willing to bet that you guys get our 2nd and 3rd or something like that when this deal is done.
So it is at the end Abe, a 6th and Ramsey for a 2nd and Schaub, Abe's contract demands costed us a 1st round pick, but I guess this deal is ok IF Schaub pays off
ya this isnt happening yet, everytime a little thing happens people overexagerate and then ya, this happens
