I don't think it works that way Hypothetically the Jets hire Rhule. They won't force an OC or DC on him. That rarely happens. One time it did sorta happen was when the Bears hired Ditka. Ditka as any new coach was going to step in and clean house, find his own assistants. The Bears said fine but you must keep Buddy Ryan to take this job. And you have no jurisdiction over him. Can't fire him. Ditka said fine...and it worked albeit with plenty of ugliness. The Jets will present info on Kingsbury, Monken, Caldwell etc to Rhule but I think it will be his decision if he wants to offer one of them the job. I don't think a forced HC/OC/DC marriage is a good idea Imagine you're Rhule and you get the Jets job. But there's KK as your OC. You haven't even started your job yet and...there's your replacement right there. That's the guy the Jets think may eventually be a better coach than me. That's a bit weird And I would like a Rhule/KK combo...but Rhule has to make that decision not Woody/Chris or Mac.
Who do we want again? There is so much going on with this HC search. I feel like just waiting to see who they hire. I was excited when it began but man this has gotten out of hand pretty quickly.
I personally believe it speaks volumes that guys like Adams, Maye, and Herndon want Kliff, none of those guys played for him but they want to.
I heard the Jets are waiting on permission to speak to Coach Herman Boone from TC Williams. Apparently, this comes with Coach Yoast as well as D-Coordinator. Package deal. Chris and Mac are turning over ALL stones in this quest for a head coach.
I’ve said it before in the McCarthy thread and I’ll say it again here. Look at A majority of the candidates we’ve either interviewed or will interview. Aside from only three of them, they are all innovative offensive minds that have displayed the ability to adapt to the modern day NFL. If you think McCarthy was plan A for the Jets, something tells me you’re horribly mistaken.
The McCarthy interview so far was the most in depth and serious one. They have spent more time with him than anybody else
I also think Richard is an interesting name as well, even though he's a defensive guy. He's young and has fire, during the playoff game on Saturday they constantly showed him on the sidelines with his players trying to coach them up. He's not my top choice but I wouldn't be disappointed if he was our guy.
If he came with Monken or Kliff that would be a homerun. We just need that strong offensive presence, despite how great of a leader Richard is.
It was reported a few days ago. I believe it was reported they had an interview, dinner. He stayed over and the next day they spent at the Jets facility. They are definitely serious about him
Oh, well then my mistake I didn't know I still can't see them wasting that much time on someone like Caldwell or Bieniemy. I think they're interviewing these guys for potential assistant roles really
I wouldn't give up the 3rd overall, and also really like Kentucky's Josh Allen. But I also feel Harbaugh is by far the best option for this team. Pair him with Darnold, and I believe we'd be very competitive for the next decade. That's worth a pick or two. I hope the Jets are making that call, and at least finding out what the cost might be.
Isnt he the cowboys DB coach AND their passing game coordinator? Ive seen this suggested in a few spots but everyone saying hes solely a defensive guy.. If hes passing game coordinator that removes any stigma in my estimation..he knows both sides of the ball
Annnnnd right after I finished typing that, I saw on NFLN that Harbaugh and the Ravens are working towards that extension. Shit.
