Well Rhule is definitely intriguing. McCarthy is solid and proven. Gase I wouldn't want but let's not act like he's Kotite or something. Caldwell I don't want either but would he be better than Bowles...probably. Regardless of what happens we're ending up with a better coach than Bowles you'd figure. If Darnold continues to improve this will make it an even more desirable destination for a coach in 4 years when coach X flames out. I really want to hear the Jets being in on John Harbaugh regarding trading for him. But I bet Miami beats us to the punch
Exactly. Recruiting efforts. You don't want the guy you're interviewing to lose out on recruits, and then not even get the pro job. Very damaging to a college coach. Has to be done in absolute secret Like I guarantee we've been talking a lot to Jim Harbaugh probably going back before anything got to the press about the Jets being willing to make him a big offer. But a lot of measures have to be taken to hide it. Hypothetically if somebody spotted Christoper Johnson getting coffee in Ann Arbor then you can put 2 and 2 together
The Jets better have called Baltimore today.....just to see what's up. While Harbaugh didn't sound like a guy who planned on going anywhere, you never know. Management could be thinking differently. Still no long term deal.
I wanted McCarthy because he's proven and can help Darnold improve. The rest of these guys are a big risk except for Harbaugh of course but I don't think that's happening.
Rhule strikes me as a guy players love to play for, and play hard for. He certainly seems to have better people and organizational skills than Bowles. Not sure how he is regarding being an X's and O's guys, how is his in game management.
Wow, remember when I said USC is crazy for not letting him at least interview? Yeah. That puts USC in a horrible light in the football world for not allowing a coordinator to interview for a better position.
Apparently we are meeting with him today, geez that was quick. It would be a terrifying hire unless he comes with one hell of a DC
Canty, Rick D and Peter were talking about this on ESPN radio today and they sounded like some of the biggest morons I've ever heard. They were actually suggesting the Jets should trade the #3 overall pick to the Ravens for him. That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. I could see throwing the Saints 3rd rounder at him, but you don't miss out on a top 3 talent to get a coach, when you can just bring one in without trading assets. I would take McCarthy and Josh Allen over Harbaugh and nobody in that spot any day. I can't believe they were even suggesting that.
I'm sorry, I messed that up that's the Tampa Bay OC that has that winning percentage as a college HC I think.
