Maybe we approach the Eagles and make them choose between Wentz and Pederson. Shoot for 100 and accept 90.
I no longer think its as simple as hiring an experienced head coach. The overall product will improve as the talent level does..thats on Mac as far as im concerned. Just as badly as needing a proven winner the jets need someone to bring them into the new age of football & thats where this gets dicey. Many of the retreads have had whispers of having outdated philosophies much like the guy who just left here. Thats where the risk comes in;Just as much as an inexperienced young gun. I gotta think guys like Gase & Monken check off both boxes in a way of being forward thinking offensively but knowing their way around an NFl complex in a leadership role. Im starting to think Gase is a better candidate than given credit. When Tannehill was healthy he had that team humming. Its all about digging into what broke the band up in Miami, what Gase has learned & what needs to change moving forward
I think we've been trying to find guys based on their schemes and philosophy. Maybe it's time to just get a guy who can be a leader. He can surround himself with good coordinators. Just get me the guy who can lead this team and change the culture.
Jason La Canfora3m Continue to hear the Jets will talk to Matt Rhule about their head coaching opening before interviewing Todd Monken on Tueaday
I've warmed up to Rhule since his name popped up last week. I know he has no NFL HC experience, but he has turned around 2 college programs. And he was a coach with the Giants for a year, so he must have some idea what coaching in the NFL is like.
If true, I can't believe that GB is seriously considering him. It doesn't surprise me that the Johnsons would have interest.
Did you see the post the other day where the owner of the Dolphins reminded Gase that they needed to upgrade their OGs in the draft, and Gase went off on him? Gase wanted to draft defensive players. That doesn't sound like a HC who will focus on offense.
As of now - assuming no Harbaughs still and only looking at known, declared candidates - my preferences are: 1. McCarthy. . . . . 2. Rhule. 3. Monken.
I'm still holding out hope for McCarthy. If we don't get him I hope we wake up and interview Pete Carmichael. Aside from these two I think all the other options are pretty bad.
Contails I totally agree with this,,,now if somehow a coach could shake loose = see Harbaugh from the Ravens or see maybe Sean Peyton if he is one and done in the playoffs or possibly even Mike Tomlin then my list would change but as of now McCarthy ---then Rhule are at the top for me
Has it been hard living with dyslexia? Sorry, couldn't resist. In the end I know we all just want them to find the right guy to finally turn this franchise around. they somehow do that, no one will complain - well, I'm sure SOMEONE will complain, we're Jets fans after all, but they can be ignored.
