I suspect that if Jim Harbaugh is interested this will change very quickly.

Rumors floating around that Campbell has his eyes on the Ohio state job. And yes, he has turned down all nfl advances so far. The soj fans don’t look at that detail when they want to bitch though

Isn't that contrary to your concept of keeping all these things together here? Already trying to jump back and forth a lot. Maybe putting all interviewees together would be a middle ground that could work.

Nah. McCarthy, Jim or John Harbaugh. These are marquee names. Better to discuss them on their own thread. But I see your point as well. This is a special situation that will be gone in 10 days.

I give it a 50/50 that one of those marquee names gets the job. How about five days, please?

I believe the justification is that he has improved his drafting and learned from past mistakes. 2018 was year 2 of rebuild and he potentially landed a franchise QB for the next 15 years as a direct result of moving up in the draft. He also found 3 pro bowlers, which is the most this team has had on the roster in quite a while.

Imagine how badly he'd be getting crucified right now if he didn't trade up and instead the Bills got Darnold at that spot? You gotta wait to see how this pans out before axing him. This up coming off season will decide his ultimate future a few years down the road.

Let him finish what he started. We should see progress in year 3.

Even if the Browns change coaches they should keep Kitchens at OC. He's a better fit for Baker than McCarthy.

This is a well thought out post. Mac has made his share of mistakes but the trade up and selection of Darnold has bought him more time. Historically the Jets have had worse GMs. And a lot of people forget this really is Year 2 of the “ rebuild “.

Similar can be said of McCarthy . He has the experience and credentials the Jets currently need. He will fix this offense . His recent problems in GB may have been more of a personel issue than coaching . Rodgers is not the easiest guy to get along with I can see that watching his interviews . He’s a good player but a premadona.

The wildcard is Darnold. He and his potential is what really is holding this franchise afloat right now. What’s the worse that can happen? McCarthy comes in and falls flat on his face ? I seriously doubt that happens. If it were to happen then that would mean most likely Darnold is not what we think he is and then the McCarthy/Mac combo is wiped clean and they start over again....lol.

Please with the semantics of what I posted. You heard the quote and what he said and you know what I meant. He basically said he would eliminate coaches from contention that wanted total control of the roster.

Love the guys who scour people posts to try to sound smart to pick apart a word or two, knowing what the intention of the post was......

It's like the kids' game of telephone - every time the story gets repeated it gets further away from what was originally said until it bears little or no semblance of what was said. There's really no need to exaggerate.

The really important thing is that it doesn't even matter what is said for the public, it's what is discussed with the candidates that is important. So far it doesn't seem to be limiting interest in the job by any of them.

Me personally, I would rank it like this overall:
    1. Green Bay Packers
    2. New York Jets
    3. Denver Broncos
    4. Cleveland Browns
    5. Arizona Cardinals
    6. Miami Dolphins
    7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
    8. Cincinnati Bengals

Factored in location, history, current rosters, cap space, and draft picks.
