Is Campbell interviewing with any other teams? I haven’t heard that he is and if he isn’t then it has nothing to do with the Jets and everything to do with wanting to stay where he is.

I also believe he has turned down interviews in the past so it sounds like he has no interest in the NFL at this point rather than no interest in Jets.

Jets are easily a top 3 option this hiring cycle if not top 1 or 2. Everyone sees it other than Jets fans.

McCarthy is 125-77 and worked under a system that NEVER went after free agents. While building through the draft is the ket to long term sustained success, you have to be able to supplement teams with quality and some times high priced free agents (Trumaine not included)

Everyone saying McCarthy only winning one SB is a negative.....would you sign up for Sean Payton right now as coach? Was Shula a complete failure never getting to one with Marino?

if you were to tell me the Jets would be 125-77 over the next several years, after we have had exactly 2 coaches in franchise history over .500 (and one was Groh for 1 season) sign me up for the disappointment and talent wasting McCarthy all day long. At least we have a shot at being relevant.

Yeah, I definitely agree with that. In fact, I said that when defending McCarthy in recent years. It was definitely time for him to move on from Green Bay, but it doesn't mean he is a bad Head Coach. Clearly he has been a good one and is at the top of most team's wish lists. If the Jets do hire him, I hope they find a good Defensive Coordinator to pair with him because the Packers Defense has been bad for awhile.

I really think a lot of the lack of success on defense was just the way the FO did business for years there. That no free agent signing position they usually took makes sense in theory building thru the draft, but cuts off from top end talent that takes a defense to the next level.

Coaches coach, players play...I see a disturbing trend of athletes today that are part of the entitlement generation...

Pretty much any Candidate on the market.
A good HC would know it's too much. Just like Reid, he turned down full control in KC stating it's too much for one person . And he had full control prior.
Now you have to consider how much talent that HC had, provided by his prior GM and how much that talent contributed to his winning record.
You want a HC with total control not because it's proven successful,( it's proven the opposite more times than not) simply because you don't like Mac.
Mac could be gone after 2019, but your scenario will last for several years. You don't go from a bad situation into a proven bad situation and call it progress.
This is something we are not going to agree on.

He was hampered by a lack of talent for sure. His depth was so poor, the guy had to use a WR as a RB in 2017. It almost seemed like he mailed it in this season, and he made some bizarre offensive calls. He basically had 2 sub .500 seasons in 13 years, I would sign up for that.

McCarthy wasn't my first choice but he's seen more post-season action during his GB tenure than I've seen in a lifetime watching the Jets. I'd sign up for 9 of the next 13 seasons to include action after Week 17.

I agree. If either Harbaugh isn't happening then I would go after McCarthy. A change of scenery might do him good. He gives me more hope than a flashy OC with zero HC experience.

He's turned down multiple offers in the past. Stated he's not interested in the NFL right now a couple of weeks ago and just signed a 6 year extension 3-4 days ago

I agree with what everyone is saying about McCarthy, but I just credit Aaron Rodgers more than McCarthy. He is one of the best QB's I have ever seen play. Now the hope would be Sam Darnold will follow in his foot steps and it is quite possible he can. If so, McCarthy could be the perfect option.

With Jim Caldwell, getting Joe Flacco to a Super Bowl title as his QB Coach and OC is his most impressive accomplishment. Flacco actually looked pretty good those seasons too. I don't credit him for Peyton Manning taking the Colts to the Super Bowl though. Then lost to Rex the following year, then went 2-14 without Peyton. Not great. His Lions career was okay too.

I respect your opinion (on other matters as well), and appreciate the opportunity to further refine my POV on this, but you're right - we're not going to agree completely. Thanks.

Did Wilkes run a 3-4 or 4-3 in Carolina and AZ? Looking for a good DC to pair with McCarthy and Boyer as ST coach. Yeah I am already going there.....

This! His 125 and 77 record is roughly an average of 10-6 over the last 12+ seasons. Jets rarely get to 10 wins.

It would be amazing to be in it every year. I think with Darnold and a good coach it will be possible.

I am not a fan of the McCarthy move - I mean if you gave me Favre and Rodgers as my QBs I would be pretty sure I could enjoy success as a HC - show me someone that has done more than expected with less talent on the team (especially at the QB position) and I will be interested but I always feel like almost anyone can enjoy success when they have a HOF QB on the field.

The more I think about this the more I see myself being able to be talked into McCarthy. It didn't end well in Green Bay, but we need someone here who has done the job before and has a certain level of respectability that they can bring immediately into the franchise. This can't be a job that's given to another first-timer who's learning on the job. There's not another Parcells out there who can come in and drag this franchise into respectability by sheer force of will, but McCarthy could end up being the right guy to mold this young team into something that resembles a respectable outfit.
