Considering the turn-around in Mayfields game when Kitchens replaced Haley, the hiring was something of a no-brainer
They wanted to hire from within. And why not? Theyve had enough changes, different cooks in the kitchen since their expansion infancy..if something’s working dont mess w it. Mayfield reportedly also pushed for Kitchens who he already had a relationship with. If they had zero interest in Mccarthy, knowing Dorsey, why wouldnt they have said so right off the bat?Again knowing Dorsey. Why would they have even bothered scheduling interviews w him? The cardinals made him a lucrative offer w.o even interviewing him! He turned them down & further shut himself off to other vacancies. So how many teams that he was receptive to actually passed on interviewing him? Broncos,Dolphins,Bucs &Bengals. This is the pool.Where did he actually wanna go that we’re now feeling insecure & looking over our shoulders at?
I was just thinking this! Or something similar. Great post. Not sure how they would get along, but it would be a strong staff.
Big jump for kitchens who bruce arians overlooked for a co ordinator job. Really think he's the coach due to his connection with mayfield and they didnt want to lose that. Still means that 5 jobs have gone and only one off our interview list. Is anyone really gutted about appointments so far? Bruce wouldn't of succeded todd out of principle for his mate. Bengals ( who are looking at hue or vance joseph) Miami and Us. I think were now in 2nd interview stage where we can take our time and get to know the next HC before an offer. A friend of mine works for the Browns. He said Freddie as HC needed to happen and that he really was the reason for Baker's success moreso than Gregg.
As much as McAdoo makes me gag, he's spent lots of time with McCarthy (Saints, 49ers and Packers). That said, the offensive system is still McCarthy's, and that won't change for any OC he hires.
SNY1m The Jets are believed to be meeting today about their next step, whether that's interviewing more candidates, setting up a second round of interviews, or making a decision. @RVacchianoSNYwith more on the coaching search: Dumbest news ever....of course they are meeting today. Hard hitting stuff on SNY!
Except you have to ignore the empirical and real impact that Kitchen’s had on Mayfield, which is the biggest concern they have in their coaching search, to minimize his accomplishments as simply “1 year at OC...” It’s not just “1 year at OC” it’s “one year with THEIR QB, who was succesful with him”, not simply one year. Kitchen’s is a proven commodity with Mayfield; McCarthy with Mayfield is merely speculation.
there is not a single scenario where keeping Bowles for another year would be the right decision. What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
I'm a nobody, but I think a second round of interviews is a waste of time. I understand they want to hit on the right guy, but you should know to this point from who you met with + what dominoes have already fallen around that league that your guy is either Rhule, Monken, McCarthy or *gulp* Gase.
