    Yep it's always coaching.

Look at the Cowboys. McCarthy left and they fell off. You can have all the talent in the world but it comes down to coaching. Perhaps in the past the NFL was more skill based and less about coaching but the rules basically have closed the gap in terms of play style. Therefore coaching is more significant than ever.

1000% this is not the same league it was 20 years ago, Xs and Os win games.

This team definitely can make a case for the worst Jets team ever.

Gase has the excuse that his roster was really bad. Glenn? Not so much. It's not a great roster, but the team that he inherited did manage to reach 5 wins last year and went down to the wire in quite a few more, blowing a number of 4th quarter leads. It's not unfathomable to imagine an alternate universe in which that Jets team, without the owner firing the head coach after 5 games and a couple of bounces of the ball going a different way, could at least have been on the "In the Hunt" graphic going into December of last year.

The way in which this team has fallen off into the abyss of all-time bad football teams is just unacceptable to the paying customers of this franchise.

    That’s been my take…

    1. I hated the AG hire from the jump … just sick and tired of rookie DC hires who have to learn on the job and haven’t focused in their career on identifying and developing a QB.

    2. This roster needed a LOT of help, no doubt, but it wasn’t an 0-7 roster. No way. And it was bad even before the trades we made.

    3. There is literally only ONE thing AG can point to and say it improved, and that’s the punt/kick return teams. That’s IT. Nothing else got better. Offense didn’t despite a better OL. Defense got significantly worse.

    4. AG’s hand picked guys have been disasters…Fields has never looked worse, and Wilks as well. Those were AG’s hires. It’s all on him.

So given that we came into this year with a bad team, what did I expect or want to see? If we’d been watching a team fight hard and just lose close games, if we’d been watching a team that plays fundamentally sound football (and on D it’s atrocious between the absolute shit tackling, the lack of takeaways, and the number of wide receivers that we just let run WIDE open, it’s one of the worst defenses we’ve ever fielded), if we’d been watching a team that drastically cut down on all of the stupid penalties, if we’d been watching a well-coached team with clever game plans, etc.

If we’d seen any of that, I’d say ok, the talent needs to improve, but I can see what the HC is trying to build here.

But you can’t say that. He talks a whole big game, but 15 games in, most of us still have ZERO idea what exactly “our brand of football” is.

AG has been a total disaster. Not unexpected as he really wasn’t all that good a DC anyway, but of course Woody the idiot goes to the right team but hires the wrong coach. And I know Ben Johnson wasn’t interested in this job, but that doesn’t mean you go hire the other guy from that team.

The worst part is the media I’m sure will sing the “consistency” song and say Woody needs to give Glenn a chance to build his team with all these picks, but I say consistency is the key EFFECT not the CAUSE of greatness.

I’ve seen what Glenn has done. I don’t think he can go from this to decent next year and then to great sometime after. I just don’t see it.

I’d rather not waste another year and two high draft picks to be proven right. I’d rather use these two high draft picks PLUS the next three high draft picks (and that’s not even counting the second round picks) as enticement to go get a real coach…an offensive guy.

Call McCarthy. Call Kingsbury. Two guys with HC experience. If not those guys, go find some successful OC’s…not sure exactly who but for starters I’d go look at the Rams and 49ers staffs, I’d go look at Joe Brady. I’d even kick the tires on Stefanski if the Browns let him go…I know he’s struggled but he also did get coach of the year (twice I think) and I think he also made the playoffs. With the fucking Browns. THAT’s impressive.

Honestly, I’d take ANY of those guys over keeping Glenn another year and wasting not only the year but the carrot that 5 1st round picks can bring…

I doubt Woody does it, but maybe if we continue to get blown out for these last two games (likely as both the Bills and Pats have a lot to play for), maybe the embarrassment is too much and Woody reacts.

    We can only dream…

Agree with your general point on coaching, but when it comes to Mike, he was 3-5 even with Dak last year. This is not so different than what they have this year. I still would consider him, but that drop off you speak of I am not sure has occurred for Dallas. Also he drafted that total bust of a DT with the 1st round pick that we got in the trade.

Above all else, Glenn chose to dump his Hall of Fame QB and WR (both of whom WANTED to be here) and decided to go with Fields and John Metchie instead. That's on him. He doesn't get to use "we aren't talented enough" as an excuse. That's the excuse you get to use when you inherit a team with Zach Wilson as it's best QB on the roster.

Now those two Hall of Famers are on competitive teams that are in the Super Bowl conversation ... and Glenn's fanbase is hoping he loses so they can draft a QB to replace the guy he dumped.

I'm 50 years old. I'm done with giving morons five years to definitely demonstrate they are morons.
