WE'RE GONNA BEAT THE FUCK OUT OF YA!! I am sooooooooooo ready!!!!
I have always loved Namath too. I think he brings something to the table for this team, but this is no time to try to change the way Sanchez (and just about every other QB) recieves the ball when it is snapped. That would be a radical change in his fundamentals. He and Mangold would need a lot of time and work to change that, too late now for this year at least.
Yeah, I only caught the tail end of his career, 1974-on, the Jets were bad and he was past his prime, but he was still Joe Namath and had flashes of brilliance. When you're 7, your dad is a Jet fan and Joe is your QB, that's all you need.
I was 14 years old for the championship season, so I remember it pretty well, along with the Heidie game. I remember how crushed I was when the AFC got stomped in Super Bowl I. I remember Bachelors 3, good times, good times.
I bet. I also love how he always talks up the team first when discussing the Super Bowl season. Question about Hard Knocks--what website were they looking at when Rex and the coaches were laughing at the captions regarding Rex? It looked like a message board but not ours. Anyone know?
Cool, thanks. I wonder if any of them are aware of TGG. I'm sure they're busy now but it's a long off season. Also, I love how Rex was laughing along, "I must be getting killed on there."
all the study hours in the world weren't gonna help that guy. When the coach says jesus you're terrible in a 2 on 2 drill, your days are numbered
Who cares. Does that mean he can't enjoy it? Why waste your time to find an old post to then call him out?
Wow-lol. Coach Ryan stole the show the moment he Rexified the cliche "beat the shit out of you" into "we're gonna beat the fuck out of you." I howled. For the young'ins who only remember Namath as trying to swat spit with Suzy Kolber with a jag on, this imo is worth a quick peek: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDg5vacKOs4 1:48 Joe "Crazy Legs" Namath zig-zagging upfield on a scramble then lowering his head Joe Kapp style and head butting--and flattening!--K.C. Chief Hall of Fame LB Bobby Bell. Amazing-hillarious. 2:03 Classic Namath at Shea (in home green) firing downfield 2:13 Check this pump fake, turn-and-throw number 2:26 A often-shown Namath classic. The quick backpedal and flick of the ball 40+ yards to Don Maynard at Kansas City. Pre-Marino Marino. (sidebar: that game, a Jet 20-19 win was on opening day of their Super Bowl winning year. Namath and the Jet offense were able to milk the clock the final 6 minutes to seal the deal that day). Italian Seafood: I too was a kid watching that Heidi Game. Jets winning 32-29 and then the Lamonica swing pass that went for a TD, then the Earl Christie muffed kickoff return disaster...ugh....I also remembered the great 3-way New York Daily News Monday morning headline: Jets=32, Oak=29, Heidi=14 Man, watching that athletic freak Cro and Kyller last night...imagine the kingpin Revis back heading that trio?.. as far as I'm concerned, hell with the Heat & the Celtics, they'd be my big three. C'mon Revis, come home.
