Great day yesterday. Entire boat had double and triple limits on Tilefish! We finished early due to weather but all in all it was a really good trip.

36 filets Stinky... Just about out of room in my deep freezer. I was actually 4 OTL on bluelines but the mates were cool about it and buried them under the ice in my cooler. 2 weeks to the day until my Gloucester MA Pollock/Haddock/Cusk/RosyRed trip. I'll get some pics from the "Wicked Tuna" joint while I'm there..

Bag arrived today. Waay too big for my purposes so I will be sending it back. This bag is more suited for private boats, not head boats where space is a premium.

    10-4

It did list the size dimensions on the site though ;)

I figured you fold it up under the seats until you get into some fish....

Had intentions to run offshore today, as it's pretty flat (and prob the only flat ocean day on a day off for awhile).... I replaced the racor filter on the boat to hopefully solve my fuel issues, then decided to replace the primer bulb too. Well that just opened a can of worms, and resulted in replacing an old fuel line.... and needing a small hose barb ($7 part) that west marine didnt have in stock.... so looks like I'm mowing the lawn instead of chasing big fish

Us small boat guys have a shrinking window for catching anything worthwhile offshore / ocean.... otherwise it's inshore only ;)

box of random sale goodies from TD just arrived :)

Well, got my gear all set for the trip. Will be fishing between 100-300ft. Not sure about current or wave height yet. Got 2 bait rods set up with my small electrics and one SPJ rod. Using 20# braid and 30# flouro leader. Same for my SPJ rod rated for up to 550g jigs. Looking forward to this trip as my last trip up there we came home with a lot of both Pollock and Haddock. Wifey even caught a 20# cod we had to release due to regulations in the Gulf of Maine.

    Pulling out Wednesday AM.

    Tight lines!!

Back from Gloucester! Great Trip! Excellent sea food the entire week. Not sure if I can eat another Lobster anytime soon. The fishing was pretty good too although this time of year, the doggies were out thick. I still managed to just miss the pool with a 10lb Cod. Lost to a slightly bigger Pollock. Also used Slow Pitch Jigging successfully on Cod. 220g flat fall jig on a 20/30 fluorocarbon rig worked perfectly. Highlight of the trip was a selfie with Marciano from "Wicked Tuna"! Really cool guy without any celebrity attitude.

The Fall Run is just about in full swing up here. Temps starting to drop. Daylight starting to get shorter and shorter. Hopefully a banner fall fishing season is about to begin.

I'm packing a few pinks but mostly blue/green/silver mackerel color as macks are running right now. SPJ's in the 80-120g range since we'll be in mostly 120ft according to the Capt. I'll have a few 150's with me just in case the current is running hard. This will be the first time my bait rod will be the backup. Temple Reef ELEVATE E-1 (100-300G) SPJ rod.

Bringing 3 rods with me. 2 SPJ rods and my bait rod. Whichever SPJ rod produces best will be the one I take with me to Block Is. Rhode Is. in November. Blackfish season is just around the corner and I can't wait to take on Tautog with light tackle. They live in the rocks so SPJ is out of the question as the jigs are too expensive. Oh yeah, got some jigs inbound from Indonesia. 80-150g with glow. Picked Gold and Blue/Green/silver. In the spring, bunker are running and they are brown. gold in depth looks more brown than anything else. In the fall, its mackerel so I roll with blue/green/silver. Trying to match the jigs with the baitfish color. I'm all in on SPJ as you can probably tell.

Block Is. is east of Montauk so in effect, I'm actually fishing Montauk waters. Another item off my bucket list. In '22, I plan on a Yankee Capt. multi day bottom fishing trip out of Key West. Time to get back to work on my bucket list as tomorrow is not promised to anybody. Trying to get in as much fishing as I can before I retire. Fixed income means these exotic trips and gear transitions to a once in a while, once a year thing.
