Have intentions to fish inshore early in the am.... but currently the winds are cranking (way more than forecast) so we'll see if I turn off the alarm in the morn.... Would like to get a few flounder while I still can.
My trip tomorrow was cancelled due to mechanical issues on the boat. It wouldn't have been very pleasant as the seas were predicted to be 3-5ft with a period of 4-5secs. That's one really fast 5ft transition. Factor in 25kt winds and I think I just dodged a bullet.
Well that sucked..... forced myself up before sunrise (prob shouldve had a few less beers) Fishing was bad, weather was worse. Thankfully Threw in the towel after 2 hours, as it started to POUR as soon as I got home and started unloading / rinsing my stuff. Took a hot shower, made a fat brunch and took a nap on the couch....
Just picked up 2 decent used Baitrunners on Tallus rods from a good friend (charter cap'n) for $150..... didnt need em but I'm a sucker for fishing deals. Going to give one to my brother.
Ha, was gonna give it to him anyway.... (I dont need 3 )... plus he's eyeing a boat for next year, so it would be a good rod to target the nearshore tuna run that happens on occasion.
So far weather is a go for my Block Island, RI trip this upcoming weekend. Maybe Momma Nature will cut us some slack and let us fish one last weekend. Leaving Sunday night, back late Monday night. Block Is. is east of Montauk, NY.
