Headed out tomorrow night for an offshore trip coming back Monday night. First time this year I'll be tossing metals along with bait.
Insane fishing yesterday. A bit chilly in the morning but right after sunrise, the bite was on. Limits all around the boat with quite the mixed bag. My 3.5lb porgy just missed the pool, limited on Seabass and threw in 4 Bluefish for good measure. All of it on manual using 1lb weight in 250ft. Needless to say, I'm worn out! Wifey tried to get me to take my electric but noooooo, I was hard headed. I should have listened as I wound up sleeping on a heating pad under my right shoulder! Lost several fish because I just didn't have the arm strength left to crank them in. Upside is that the pain helped me with the 2.5hr drive home last night. Nice way to end my 2019 fishing season. Found a new party boat in the process too. Well, can't wait for 2020. Thinking perhaps a Cod trip but I'm done until spring depending on the winter/spring transition. Tight Lines!!
You guys are more than welcome to come ice fishing with me in the last frontier (Alaska). We get big pike, lakers, burbot etc....
Looks like no Cod trip this weekend. Winter pattern finally setting in. Coastal storm today, Rain over the weekend.
Yep, had plans to head offshore for wahoo yesterday..... then monday night the marine forecast switched to W 15-20.... abort mission. (wouldve been a SHITTY 50 mile ride in)
Your homework assignment is to go bck and find that link I posted last time you asked.... I'm sure not looking for it again hint: think billfish but wahoo are pretty open in the winter too
Well, it may be a moot point anyway.. I'm sure I'll be back in Florida at some point later this year.

Headed out tomorrow for my first trip of 2020! Going offshore for Cod. Waves at 2ft and cloudy should make for a good day on the water.
Went out for Cod on Friday and it turned into a Blackfish trip. Made for a long and very frustrating day getting stuck in wrecks repeatedly. Upside is that my new gear worked fine and actually surpassed my expectations. I'm even learning how to crank left handed using a spinning reel like everyone does and how to use a conventional reel that isn't a levelwind. Not a memorable trip but I did learn a few things. I also left lures at home that could have helped. I'll be better prepared next time. Every trip can't be a bonanza or they would call it catching instead of fishing.
Levelwinds are for sissies.... (I do still have a few old penn 320GTs though) Looks like the Togs are on fire off DE.... when you going to chase sailfish in Stuart FL?
Marine forecast for 20-60: TONIGHT North northeast winds 25 to 30 knots with gusts to around 40 knots. Seas 11 to 17 feet with occasional seas up to 22 feet. Dominant period 11 seconds. A chance of rain.
Storm passing by? Up here, things are done until April. Not much biting and if they are, you're taking a long ride offshore to get to them. Will be in Orlando next Thurs for a 4/3 mini vacation. Will probably go to Sea World and perhaps a few sporting good outlets to see if I can snag something not sold up here.
Sort of.... low pressure / cold front combo hugging the coast. No FL fishing charter? you know they dont let you bring fishing rods into Sea World....
