C.....been out lately? I found a 3/4 day out of Belmar the Ocean Explorer that on Tuesday's kids are free with a paying adult which would be cool. I'm gonna look if I can find another boat with a similar special. They go for "giant fluke". I know you go out of Belmar a bit so do you know much about these guys?

Jamaica II offers a similar deal on Thursday but they're only half day

Dam, the Gambler only does half days and no kids discounts.

Big Jamaica does 3/4 day blues

Paramount which I believe is in Brielle departs at 6:30 and does Seabass. They're a bit more pricey than the others but it appears they're the only ones doing seabass now.

Miss Belmar does stripers as well but they're actually more expensive than Paramount.

I'm not really familiar with anything out of the Highlands.

Looks like noone offers full days or nights anymore... that sucks.

Ocean Explorer might be the way to go but I know you like those stripers

Had a few things going on Barry. Just got back from Vegas tonite. The weather here has been unstable to say the least.

Funny you mention the Explorer as that's my regular boat when I'm not after the slammers. Tuesday is a great day to go as the crowds are lighter than Mondays, Fridays or Weekends. Fluking seems to be coming around too.

I'll keep an eye on the reports as the time gets closer.

Went there with Wifey and all my in-laws. Stayed at the Venetian which was a story in itself. Tried to hook up wit LVCoach but my contact information was wrong so it didn't happen. I eventually talked to him though via cellphone. He sounded good..

Next time I will make sure to ask if there's any conventions at the hotel I'm staying at. There was a Cigar convention this weekend so you couldn't breathe in the Venetian Casino. Had to bail.

Barry, you should have seen the women in there over the weekend. With the NBA summer league in town, every manhunter in the city must have put on their miniest minis and trolled the Casino. There were so many that Wifey didn't mind when we started a Commando count. :)

Won some cash at the Roulette table down at the Paris. Just learned the game and I think I might be done with slots.

I tell all my buddy's that come into town to hit the Octagon Bar at the Venetian. 75% of the women that hang out there are working girls but some of them are smoking. No shortage of incredible looking women at the V in general.

You should see the Wynn when the real NBA stars come in town for Team USA camp. Wowzers.... nothing but 9's and 10's hanging around. The Palms was rocking when the AS game was here as well. One former player told me he hated going to Utah because the pickens were slim in SLC, for obvious reasons Miami and LA were his favorite.

I just checked the long range weather for Belmar. I'm looking at Tuesday, 6 August as a target date. Let me know if this works and I'll put in for that day off.

I think that is a good date, love the idea that my son will be free so at least if he hates it I won't have dropped 50 bucks for him to do it. I'm sure he'll enjoy as long as the fish are biting that day.

Thanks to this heat wave, the water has gotten a lot warmer and everything is starting to turn on. It should be a good day. I'll put in for the day off tomorrow!

    Fish On!

Well some much for a shitty Doctor's shitty diagnosis...... it was broken after all (I diagnosed myself with a cuboid fracture, but they said I was fine) walking on it for 3 weeks, then a "crack" and it's back to square one. MRI confirmed that I was right.......

catch em up boys...... no fishing for me for a month, and no surfing hurricane season. PHUUUUCK!

    Ho Lee Fuk...

Did you piss on a church or something? I've heard of a bad run of luck, but you're setting a record here. :)

Just take it easy old buddy and get back out there in the fall. It will probably be better fishing anyway depending on this year's hurricane forcasts.

Trying to talk the InLaws into a Hawaii vacation in '14. If that happens, I get to take 2 things off my bucket list. One of which would be to fish those waters for something really good to eat. The other is simply to get there and relax with a drink in one hand and Wifey in the other.

Fishing reports off Captree are crazy. Fluke are coming in by the dozens. This heatwave has been something else for Fluke fishing. Get in while you can folks!

All the fish in a the JACK family fight hard, was probably fun.

You guys toss artificials off the rocks for them?
One year I brought a small spinner with me in my board bag and tried that off the rocks by Waimea, but to no avail?

Also, how those guys taste? they look like a cross between Jack Crevalle (very common inshore) and African Pompano ( more rare and offshore) we catch here....... Jack Crevalles are nasty but the African Pomps are tasty.

Jack Crevales (we just call them jacks) will crush artifical plugs and topwaters. Fun to catch as they're strong.

Now, I haven't fished for fluke / flounder up there in 20+ years, but do you guys have to use a boat and find them in Great South Bay or off the beach?

Can you wade fish off the shore of GSB and find them?

I've Become used to our "backwater / inshore" fishing or offshore bottom fishing and trolling here in FL.

From what I've heard the heat and warm water has also brought in some big predators as well. Too bad I don't have the time or money because I'd love to fish for those big boys. I had a buddy catch a mako one time many years ago and it probably weighed about 2 bills.

Thanks to the full moon, fishing has slacked off just a bit but hopefully, by the time you get here, we'll be back in the saddle again. I put in for the 6th of August off so we'll see if the boss gives me a break. I should be good to go but I don't take things for granted.

I might go this Saturday for Blues since I have several prepaid tickets to burn on the Miss Belmar and the Jamaica. Not sure which one yet.
