Water temps are creeping up CB. Almost 50F off Manasquan Inlet. I was planning the weekend of the 26th but looking at long range weather patterns, I might cancel that trip and go later in the year like say... June.
apparently Pompano were on fire in the surf last week as the temps rose quite a bit, along with some clear water.... of course I was tied up. Now the water is back in the 60's and pretty "dirty" from the weather/wind we've been having. Hopefully will try tomorrow.... did catch a nice Jack and a bluefish tossing a Gotcha plug saturday for a bit.... but I want pomps for the cooler
slow work day.... Ran down to the beach for a little bit. One pompano (just legal) and one 17 1/2" whiting.... at least I have dinner I just got this in my email...SICK: https://kayakanglermag.com/stories/...ail&utm_term=0_603ed3208e-6f2bbbaadf-89889073
Nassau county Florida. Amelia island. Down on vacation. Was hoping for a couple of those whiting stink caught. Had to hit the drive thru for dinner.
Stripers run the Hudson up by me in May which is tough because I’d rather turkey hunt. I’ll probably brush off the fly pole in June and hit a few streams .
Get some clams and sandfleas and head to the beach.... lots of pompano caught off jax went back to the beach before dark and got another pompano... prob 14" at fork.... had intentions to get em at sunrise...but I hit the snooze button a few too many times
North. Hit fort George inlet this morning for the last of the out going. Floated some shrimp under a cork ,couple of blues, gulls took more shrimp than the fish.
It's good to see, not every kid is glued to video games and iphones.... 2 local kids (15&16) and their youtube channel
Pushed my bucket list trip to May 10th. Saturday looking way too hostile to be that far offshore. I think the trip was gonna be cancelled anyway.
Last summer we had an overnight trip planned for the "Middle Grounds" in the gulf (100 miles out).... got 25, before we said FUCK THAT...
I get it... For me, it was the 7ft seas and 25kt winds that were the deal breaker. 36hrs fighting that kinda weather is no way to enjoy a deep drop experience.
Forecast was "doable" with some questions...... then we were surrounded by T-storms and 25kt winds an hour into the journey.... (well the journey started the night before... trailering the boat across the state and staying in some shitty hotel room ...... got worse, as we came back, trailer got a flat tire, and right after we fixed that, the serpentine belt on the truck snapped. LOL ..... I drank beers in the truck on the ride home
