well........ actually catching fish couldve been an easy way but I've been fucking off all week, so may as well keep it going.... prob have a 60hr work week next week so fuk it btw, I blew off some work yest morn too to fish from my yak. The fish gods have shown displeasure in my irresponsibility
Which boat you going out on in Lauderdale? Hopefully I'll be heading over that way in the next 2-3 months, going to go out on The Crowd Pleaser out of Deerfield Beach.
The Lady Helen. 6hr charter inshore reef fishing. We usually bottomfish off Jersey anyway so this should be fun !
You should have a great time, reef is the place to be this time of year is what I've been told. Thunderstorms usually hold off until afternoon this time of year, from what I remember living over there, so should be ok with the weather.
I'm back from a really great vacation. 10 days away and boy was it worth every penny! It was really hot and I think that might have had something to do with the bite but we managed to put some Tuna and Barracuda in the boat. Fished inshore and the intercoastal waterway around Ft. Lauderdale and learned how to troll for tuna and other fish at the same time. My next trip to FL will definitely include Key West and the GoM (Destin). People drive crazy down there too. I was doing 80mph in the middle lane and was getting passed on the right! Go figure.. Here's a few pics.. That thing had some vicious teeth! Bonito ! Great trip all around. Knocked another item off the bucket list. I will have to return to Florida one day soon. I'm thinking either Key West or Destin (GoM) next time. No real reason to return to the Bahamas. Enjoyable but definitely one and done. Good Rum though.. Saw some great sights on the beaches too. Also saw some things I wish I could unsee...
Glad you had a good time....... This time of year the Cudas and bonitos are plentiful....... saw some BIG cudas trying to snatch our catch last time I went out.... we've been out before and had 20" + snappers instantly sawed in half by 6' cudas I agree... SFL is WAAY too crazy for me (lived there for a bit as a kid; fuck the dolphins) Next time head up this way and visit the oldest city in America, totally different pace (and why I settled here after growing up in NY and SFL)....... and I'll hook you up with some of the best local charter caps ( happen to be friends of mine) btw, those bonito make great snapper / grouper bait
I ran the idea of St. Augustine by wifey and because of the historical value, I think she's in for a 2017 trip. Just not in August..
good call.... july's even worse. Aim for april / may. Weather's nice, less tourists around and the fishing is best.
Just might take you up on that. I'll get with some of my fishing buds up here and see if they wanna give it a shot in '17
Just finished selling my Penn Conflict 6000 reel and my Van Staal online at Ebay. That pays for my new Shimano Terez Medium 7ft. spinning rod with cash left over. Going out this Saturday for Fluke after giving Hermine a few days to clear out. Fall fishing is almost here guys! Time to load up!
just finished a project today and have a little free time before the next one. Bait run is in full force in NE FL, and so are the tarpon. Unfortunately it looks like major rainout the next few days.
Coastal Storm? Just saw the forecast on The Weather Channel. You guys are really getting soaked down there. Might get some unintended use out of that kayak of yours.. I hope for your sake that doesn't happen man... I'll be chasing Blues and Albacore this Saturday out of Belmar. Using yet another new rig which I suspect will be my all purpose rig for everything except Porgy.
Tropical Storm Julia formed rt on top of us yesterday........ onshore at gale force and pouring rain.
thanks, but pretty minor really...... got nasty for a few hours yesterday late in the day. I went over to my pop's and we drank beer on the covered porch mostly just rain now. winds have moved to GA........ my buddy who's a charter guide is pretty pissed though, with the 3 canceled charters he's had so far .
