I'm hearing great things about this Fall Striper Run. Seems everyone is smashing them up and down the eastern seaboard. Tuna run I think is about done with. Got one more trip planned for 11/18. Offshore wreck fishing for whatever is 80mi off the Jersey Coast. Here's a pic from my Block Is. trip.. Limited out!!
Just finalized the last details of my Pulley Ridge trip. AutoTrain reserved at a really good price since its so far in advance. Even got a sleeper car both ways! $1202 RT. Hotel is set, Boat fare is set. Looks like I'm set to knock two items off my bucket list. 1st? always wanted to do a sleeper car train trip. 2nd? Outstanding Deep Drop fishing trip in Fl.
Looks like I'm heading up to my brother's for Thanksgiving. I'm hoping to get on the Striper bite. I know 10+ weather forecasts are almost worthless (esp on the east coast) but atm it looks cold, windy and shitty...
supposed to be headed offshore Sat/Sun. Weather right now trending towards a cancellation. I'm hoping for a cancellation as I prepaid for this trip.
not looking fun... I'm hoping for a calm black friday window to get on some stripers before the JETS game https://www.windfinder.com/forecast/lido_beach_oceanside
I have that same rod rack .... filled with another ten along the wall. Anyway, no Bluefin tunas but we did power through a choppy sea on sunday and got on the stripers pretty good
Good job! Looks like Mother Nature will let me take my last trip of the season on Thursday/Friday. Headed offshore for migrating Sea Bass/Porgy/Cod.... First time I'll be using all electric gear on both my bottom fishing and my SPJ rigs. Gonna bring some Mackerel and if I can get some, bunker. My SPJ jigs will be both mackeral and bunker colors.
Yeah, it was most likely my brother's last day of the season, as it's about time to pull his boat from the water to winterize....
Last trip was productive but cold and damp. We were off the Delaware coast in about 200ft. Lots of fish, lots of dogfish too. Nice way to end '23 !!
My buddy just told me his pop is putting his boat up for sale.... alot less bluewater fishing for me now
A lot of folks up this way are selling. Marina and Fuel costs are what's driving it. If I had an extra 50-75K laying around, I could score a really nice center console.
Yeah, alot of people jumped into the covid hype and realized they dont use / maintain their boats in this case, yeah it's the costs... he's had offshore boats his whole life, and now realizing in his 70s the 36' center console probably isnt the best idea anymore. (I'm hoping he's gonna downsize and not just hang it up
Sounds like a nice twin engine Center Console. 36ft is one big assed boat. Perfect for offshore. Probably needs a diesel to tow it to the dock.
