slimjasi loves him some Woody. What a dork. I made my arguments. I mentioned Stanton to point out that the Tebow trade was not limited in its effects on the Jets, not that it was about and only about whether Stanton should still be a Jet. And while the WSS deal was shot down in the political arena, my point there was that Woody should have had a plan B other than getting in bed with the Giants, but he did not. If someone thinks saying someone sounds like he's a relative of someone in defending that person is the same as talking about someone else finger fucking my wife, that person not only has no cred, that person is also an idiot.
More Deflections. So, I "love" Woody because I have the audacity to point out that the Jets record over his tenure has been decidedly average (actually, probably slightly above average when compared with the other 31 NFL teams), and as a result, entirely not consistent with the "Woody is a horrible owner" hype that we hear and read everywhere? Gotcha. Listen, you obviously have a major hard on for the guy. I get it. But, the fact of the matter is, the Jets average stature over the last 14 years simply doesn't logically support your position that Woody is some embarrassingly bad owner. No amount of deflecting will change that verity. I made a statement that the Tebow trade was immensely overblown. You responded with the Drew Stanton scenario as part of your retort. Sorry, buy it wasn't very convincing. Yes, I think we can all agree that the Tebow trade had the far-reaching consequence of placing a guy who would be 3rd on our QB depth chart right now (at best) on the Arizona Cardinals as their backup quarterback. So? How does that, in any way, shape, or form, refute my argument that the Tebow trade was drastically overrated? Ok, so Woody is an embarrassingly bad owner because he didn't have a plan B for getting the Jets their own stadium? Sorry, again, I don't see it. It's a relatively petty issue. The Jets and Giants have shared a stadium for decades, now. There is no doubt that it would have been nice to get our own stadium. But, I don't see how Woody not being the one to get it for us makes him this hideously bad owner. If anything, it seems to me like the Giants were the ones who were worse off for the Jets-Giants collaboration going forward considering that the shared stadium is no longer called "Giants Stadium," as it had always been before Woody got "in bed"with the Giants. Petty issue is petty. I never claimed that the two statements were the "same." What I wrote was that they were equally irrelevant to the discussion at hand. In other words, they were both unnecessary deflections that shed no light on the merits of the argument one way or another. And yours came first. As I playfully wrote to you: Silly deflection is silly. Deal with it. Reading is fundamental.
Those are my thoughts as well, the issue is I don't think Idzik has really given the next guy a whole lot to work with. Yeah the DL is nice but that would likely be scrapped, the new guy will have no QB, no WR, no secondary and no OL.
How is this clear to anyone without a magic looking glass? And the burden of proof is squarely on the back of the person making the charge. Give us something other than an unnamed source. It may be clear in your mind, but that certainly has nothing in common with fact.
People keep saying, "who else." Umm, how about giving another humanoid with blood in their body who has made a career choice in college or professional football. This person usually has a dick as well.
The owner is responsible for the team, whether directly or by default. The GM reports to him directly. There is no board of directors, or annual stockholder meeting. Woody is responsible. It is common knowledge that Woody insisted that Ryan be retained when the GM search was going on in early 2013. I call that a football decision. Next.
You truly believe Woody doesn't have a major say in personnel decisions? Tebow? Idzik? The only person dumb enough to bring Tebow and that circus to the Jets was Woody himself. Woody is a shit owner, never been a fan of him. I think he needs to hire a football guy to make ALL of the decisions. He should stand back and sign checks that's it.
Absolutely. I believe he has veto power for major decisions - nothing more. The only "evidence" anyone has produced to the contrary has been conjured up in their own minds. The Tebow decision may very well have been one of those marketing decisions conjured up out of necessity to move PSLs rather than onfield needs, but I don't believe anyone really took his prospects as an NFL quarterback seriously; certainly not after his first week in camp.
