My brother is a Giants fan and I was talking to hiim about this the other day. I think Eli's problem, for lack of a better explanation, is that he's not that bright. Look at him play, he can throw, he can move around enough in the pocket, he's durable, but he constantly makes bad decisions. I think the problem may be that people are just assuming that behind his southern accent he has a brain, like his brother. Granted they both sound like dopes, but you can tell Peyton has some sense. Eli on the other hand, even discounting his drawl, looks and speaks like he needs help tying his shoes in the morning. His appearences on Mike and the Mad Dog during training camp, were unintentionally hilarious. It was like they took Jethro Clampett and taught him NFL cliches.
I hate the fact that DJ Gallo is so funny, because he seems to save some of his best stuff for Eli...
What i dont understand is 4 years of crappy play and people did not label him a bust, but 3 games of good play and people are calling him the messaih, before i say that he is the second coming i want to see some consistency
I remember only a short while ago when Giants fans said Manning was a bust and they wanted Coughlin fired. Now it's, "Look at Coughlin's head! It's so big now. His hat doesn't even fit anymore. His brain just keeps getting bigger and bigger." and "I saw Eli Manning walk across the Hudson River the other day."
