I don't really understand the Streveler sentiment. He did not get a single practice rep until after the pre-season game number one. He was a practice arm. Nothing else. He played against guys who will never suit up in the NFL. He is getting a huge reward and will get a spot on the PS and will get an entire year apprenticeship to sit and learn. He is getting everything he could have ever asked for and dreamed of this year. he has now become a developmental player. What is not to be happy about here? Why would the Jets ever consider wasting a spot on the roster for him this year?
yah you’re right…I do think he looked good … I was thinking of Flacco not putting up enough points against giants backups…he moved the ball pretty well enough but I think he only got a field goal? I’d have to rewatch.
Not our team but the Vikings just released Kellen Mond. I’m old enough to remember 16 months ago when Vikings fans were celebrating the Jets trading up for AVT because they ended up with their QB of the future with one of our picks.
Gotta think this means Knight will be RB3 then, right? Didn't feel like Ty had a particularly impressive camp whereas Knight flashed all offseason. EDIT: With some roster gymnastics, Tevin could return.
Yes and no. He’s a vet so he’s not subject to waivers. If we place someone on IR he’ll be there waiting to resign with us. Wouldn’t be the case with Knight. I agree but this staff loves their vets.
Wasn't he the one that the QB guru (Simms?) who liked Wilson also said was going to be in his top 3 or 5 QB's?
Id argue Johnson has been unimpressive for well over a year. We all remember his three drops in one quarter last year which landed him on the inactive list for a few games.
That Simms guy 'But to further complicate the rankings, Simms had Texas A&M QB Kellen Mond at No. 4, ahead of both Fields and North Dakota State's Trey Lance, behind Wilson, Lawrence and Mac Jones.' Dear me
Simms is known for his wacky takes. I’ll take solace in the fact that he’s the only guy stroking off Mond while a lot of people like Zach.
The biggest QB guru out there is likely Tim Jenkins. Jenkins loved Wilson (Simms?) and ranked him number one. Not sure how he ranked Mond. Simms ranked Mond really high. Edit: sorry did not see you said Simms.
The Vikes had Mills and Mond to choose from. Guess they took the wrong guy. However, they never really gave Mond a fair chance, it was reported the coaching staff didn't like him from the start. Heck, when Cousins went down they started Sean Mannon over him last year.
