rex took credit for every lose. one thing he was good at was taking the slings and arrows for the team. it was everything else that seemed to be his downfall

Well said, meantime, in Buffalo, rumor has it, half the fans are desperately begging for a swift exit of Rex and his deranged brother. Apparently allowing 37 points is acceptable, but scoring 31 is cause for dismissal.

1st off, i like Bowles. Which is why i haven't read this thread except for the last few pages. The head coach is responsible for many things besides in game management.

    1. Motivating the team week to week. Setting the tone, leading by example, keeping the team accountable. Rex Ryan was great at motivating for 1 game, but the following week the team flopped because of an emotional let down. Bowles is instilling a calm confidence, which hopefully will lead to consistency and prolonged success.

    2. Hiring of assistant coaches. So far Chan Gailey looks like the best offensive coordinator the Jets have had in quite a while.

    3. Improvement and development of players. Several Jets players are excelling under Bowles. Fitzpatrick and Pyror to name a couple.

Our young head coach is a work in progress. He is good at some things and needs work in others, but overall seems to be a promising prospect. Like our young quarterbacks, lets hope Bowles fixes his flaws. Lets hope our head coach continues to improve and the Jets can become an organization that has perennial success.

    11-7 is decent.

Not sure why the hammering of Bowles.

But hell this forum would hammer Vince Lombardi.

Bowles needs to take some tips from Tomlin on how to shut down the teams best receiver. Green a total non factor today.

We're only two games into the season.

What about last year during Bowles 1st season where Bowles secondary was 10x more productive when compared to Tomlin's secondary in which was atrocious against the pass?

Tomlin is the last head coach in which Bowles should take tips from in regards to stopping #1 WR's.

Didn't Mike Tomlin allow A.J Green to record 17 receptions for 250 receiving yards and 2 TD receptions during his two games against Cincinnati last year?

I know Goodwin & Salas beat us deep for receptions of 84 & 71 yards but wasn't Watkins, their #1 receiver held to only 2 catches for 20 yards? Outside of those two costly receptions given up our secondary was pretty sound @ Buffalo.

Fans are overreacting when regarding our pass defense it'll become top notch as the season continues to progress.

You just pimped a guy that thinks Macc's best draft pick is Mauldin.

A very mediocre Revis as your number 1 CB isnt going to take this secondary nowhere near top notch. Watkins was literally playing at half speed and was a decoy that game. You can't say with a straight face that he was 100%. Bowles defenses don't limit the opposing top receivers at all. Every single one of them just has a field day against the defense because he refuses to double the #1and make the other receivers beat them. Sure, his defense may do fine if the opposing team doesn't have a top 10 WR. Go rewatch the Buff game Raiders, Jags, and Texans games last year and Cincy game this year as proof. One would think he still thinks this is the 2009 Revis and not the one who is 7 years older.

You have a journeyman back up QB running your team. The NFL is a QB driven league. Bowles isn't the problem. The guy is one of the best minds in the game and he has a terrific temperament for the long haul. You finally have a good GM and HC. He isn't BB yet but he's the closest thing you've had since Parcels dumped out. Bowles isn't Herm or Rex he doesn't have a loaded squad. You got some good pieces a Journeyman QB and a good GM and HC who are learning and will get much better.

Look what's going on in Buffalo and Miami. The Jets aren't even the most dysfunctional team in their division anymore. You even have an OC who could actually develop a QB.

You got a pretty good team. I'm looking forward to seeing the Jets when they come to AZ this year. I might break out a little Green for the occasion. Believe me we miss Bowles in AZ. The man knew how to run a D.

I'm going to the Indian reservation the night before and smoke peyote and sweat about it. It's going to be a game time decision. If I hallucinate about Namath going deep to Maynard I'm going Green. If I see Fitzgerald catching 10 balls on Revis I might have to go Red?

    Yes sorry about that

I just feel like our raw talent is impressive and talent acquisition comes from GM

I said it before. I like Bowles the human story. I want him to keep getting better. I think he will, but he has to show it.

11-7 to me is 90% the talent and 10% the coaching. and if you look over all 18 games, the opponent, the situation, you'd probably feel we should have been more like 13-5. the loss to the bills is a tough one. as is getting dropped more then once by a backup qb.

11-7 isnt horrible, but we have had some really bad loses directly tied to coaching mistakes. and what bothers alot of people is not cleaning up things he consistently does wrong. clock management, and late game decisions

who do you think his best draft pick was?

Big cat was the best player he drafted, but i mean, having the best player on the board at #6 to me is kind of a no brainer.

getting starters and pass rushers in round 3 to me is a better pick.

would you call taking peyton manning #1 overall a great pick? same logic. that doesnt really require much as a GM.

yeah, i think he isnt playing to his players strength with some much cover 3 having his corners sit 7 yards off the ball and backpeddling into deep thirds of the field. he also has one or both of his safties up withing 8 yards almost 90% of the time.

id much rather have revis up and a safety back then a safety up and revis back

he has a ton of talent. who has a better WR/HB combo? a better Dline? fitz is who he is, but alot of teams win as much or more with game managers like that with less weapons around him. the secondary isnt elite anymore, but its at least average.

and it shard for me to agree with bowles being "one of the best minds in the game" when he cant figure out when to go for 2, when to use a timeout, and that he might need some help vs elite wrs

you dont see great minds making those mistakes, consistently and you'd never see it from bellicheck
