They don't want to spend the money. Woody Johnson is frightened over giving gauranteed money and seeing the player go down with an injury like Pennington did. The largest signing bonus given to a Jet player since Pennington's mega deal is the 3.25 million signing bonus given to Kimo von Oelhoffen. Not overpaying for free agents is the mantra Woody loves to hear from the FO. It means no meaningful free agents will be signed.
I wouldn't put it past them to re-sign him. I mean, that would be an impressive statement: we can't be bought for less than worth. And I bet Abe would take back a lot of the things he said if he thought he could stay with his teammates as well as prove the FO wrong.
Falcons last offer:A player(Duckett?)plus the second rounder The Jets want Atlanta's first-round pick, 15th overall, to let Abraham join the Falcons. The Falcons initially offered their second-rounder (No. 47). In an attempt to break the impasse, the source said, McKay offered to include a player with the second-rounder. The identity of the player isn't known, but the Falcons have discussed trading T.J. Duckett, featured back Warren Dunn's backup the past four years. After parting with LaMont Jordan a year ago, the Jets could be tempted to bring in another heir apparent for Curtis Martin, this time with Martin clearly being throttled down at the end of his career. But the Jets, according to the NFL source, said no to the two-plus-a-player That is where the sides reportedly stood Saturday, irritated with each other's stance but still communicating and taking time out, likely until Monday, to ponder their positions http://www.northjersey.com/page.php...lRUV5eTY5MDA1NDcmeXJpcnk3ZjcxN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXk2 Randy Lange feels the Jets want the extra first rounder to select a LBer as part of their strategy to swap picks with the Saints to draft Matt Leinart at #2 #4,second and third round picks for #2
No, he did, and that's the problem. Bradway was Herm's bitch. Bradway took orders from Herm and those orders were HORRIBLE.
No to Duckett Right now, there seems no chance that T.J. Duckett would return with a new contract after next season. His decline in the final five games was frightening. Averaging 1.1 yards per carry over Atlanta's 1-4 finish sent scouts scurrying for answers heading into this draft. Waiting until the second round could be worth the risk if Wisconsin's Brian Calhoun is still available. Calhoun, like Williams, resembles Dunn more than, say, LenDale White, a big back whose frame is more akin to Duckett. http://www.11alive.com/sports/football/falcons/insideslant.asp
Exactly...They are trying to play a rookie GM and so far Tannenbaum has been standing his ground. I like it a lot!! This shows that Tannenbaum can do this job in my opinion
the jets arent going to do this they already sed that they wanted the falcons' first round pick. we can get seatles first rounder and we dont need TJ Ducket. did anyone watch cedric houston kick some ass last season during the last 4-5 games...
Well, I agree with you (maybe not the bitch part) I was asking DBlitzer 28 if that was the implication of his response.
I like Houston too. I was at the Oakland game where he kicked ass. But I think that we need a "lighting back" (not duckett) to compliment him. Then we could have a Thunder & Lightning backfield.
and we also have derick blaylock who is also pretty good. he broke his ankle so he didnt get a chance to play much last season. we have both of those options for RB, if we take a RB in the first 2nd or 3rd roudn, i'll be furious iwould like to see some defense, or olineman, and maybe a WR
