I follow you. Just that some of the Falcon fans have to understand the history of the Jets the last 5 years...of being mugged in trades/free agency and then the Herm fiasco. If anything we have learned from the new regime is that they will not cave in. If that means keeping Abe on the payroll longer then they would like to get what they can for him...they will do that before caving into the Falcons playing hardball. Bottom line is that Abe is franchised...he can stay home...and sulk...and hold out...and cry and throw tantrums. Herm Edwards during Abes holdout last year would keep saying "I know where Johns heart is..and whats annoying him...long as he shows up by gametime against KC...everything will be fine". Those days are over. This front office wont be pushed around by Abe...or McKay. Its just not going to happen.
The Falcons are getting really nervous with the John Abraham saga. After thinking that they were going to get there guy signed throughout the weekend they seem to be sweating about it a little bit because the Jets have not agreed to any proposals made by the Falcons. Though President and GM Rich McKay and the Falcons will not stop their pursuit of the all pro end they are starting to consider other options. According to Mortensen the Falcons may end up needing to agree to a trade sending their 2 round pick this year and 1st rounder next year if they want to get a deal done. Mortensen reports that all the Falcons proposals involved their second rounder this year and a player. He mentioned that players which were rumored to be offered were TJ Duckett, Chad Lavalais, and Demorio Williams. Again I got no links to this discussion just heard on the NFL Show. Thought you all may want to know.
