and what if the falcons and their generous offer were not there...perhaps our front office would take a 3rd rounder?

Welcome aboard my friend...nice to have you here...and im serious...but please dont try to sell me on the trade. Just like Im sure our front office is disregarding your offer...I am too.

You guys are making it sound like if Seattle doesnt need Abe anymore....you could maybe even get him for a 4th round pick....because all the teams will dry up.

Trust me, if this front office doesnt get what the feel is deserved..they will not trade him. This isnt baseball free agency...where you dump guys or get nothing in return. The Jets have the room in their cap and will not be huge players in free agency this year...period. They could hold him until August if they wanted...when another team might want to trade an 07 1st round pick for him..its a looonnggg way off. This front office is in no rush to do anything right now.

Just forget about getting him with a 2nd round pick.

And welcome aboard here at TGG.

You know McKay is known for his hardball type dealing. Remember, he's potentially is the next Commish. I hope he don't hold grudges.

You mean the type of hard type dealing that trade two first round picks for Meshawn Johnson?

    Lol.....got me there.

Im sure McKays future is waying very heavily on the hearts of both EM and MT.

The bottom line is that the Jets wanted your 2nd string QB...you said no...then they wanted your 1st round pick...you said no again.

If other teams heard that the Jets were possibly going to trade Abe for a mid 2nd round pick...do you really believe that nobody would come out of the woodwork? Im sure you want to believe that...but how can you.

The reason the Jets are in discussions with the Falcons is that they had something we wanted...and still do.

If the Jets would reopen this to the rest of the NFL that a second rounder would do the trick...Atlanta wouldnt be by itself anymore.

I didn't follow him then. All I know is what he's doing for my team now.

Latest from Atlanta Journal-Constitution as of 11:28 p.m. ET on 3/20:

Falcons owner Arthur Blank said team officials continued to work on compensation to land New York Jets defensive end John Abraham, the pass-rushing specialist who has been their main offseason target.

"I know we're trying hard to satisfy all parties concerned," Blank said Monday. "I think John Abraham is satisfied, at this point. It's just a matter of us working something out with the Jets."

That could mean the Falcons offering more in a trade than the second-round pick in the April draft that the Jets rebuffed last week after Seattle offered its first round pick, 31st overall.

Atlanta refuses to trade backup quarterback Matt Schaub or its first-round draft pick (No. 15). Any new offer could include an additional pick in this season's draft or future considerations. Atlanta has already dealt its fourth-round pick to Cleveland for safety Chris Crocker.

"I spent several hours with him last week and he's a great football player and will continue to be a great football player," Blank said.

Don't get me wrong Jay. I wanted to trade Shaub, I guess the FO is afraid of Vick's kamikazi style of play, that they want to keep a formidable qb. I say sign trade Shaub and sign a vet qb as a backup ie Kerry Collins, Gus Foreotte, hell even Aaron Brooks, as a back up now. Also we do have Bryan Randall, as a 3rd stringer. We could also draft D.J. Shockley out of UGA. I made arguments on my board saying why don't we have a qb in the same mold as Vick. That way the scheme and gameplan stays the same.

McKay is the same guy who didn't want to give up the picks to get Gruden out of Oakland. It took the Glazers to get the deal done with Al Davis.Without Gruden,McKay isn't the SB winning GM

I doubt that. He's set on Atlanta. Plus his family could see him play since there in S.C.

His family can also see him play on a brand new 52 inch flat screen plasma TV with the money he'll get.

Hard to really take you seriously when you have to come to a New York Jet board to learn about the history of your General Manager.

    Sad really.

We agree on 1 thing though and that is....:eaglessuck:
