ATL will get him, because JAbe will say he wants to play there, and he'll tell the ATL FO that, so they'll have to up their ante. JA has to approve the trade by agreeing to a contract.
Blank is willing to sweeten the deal sorry if this has already been posted Jets take hard line on Abraham deal Saturday, March 18, 2006 BY DAVE HUTCHINSON Star-Ledger Staff The divorce between the Jets and defensive end John Abraham has gotten complicated. In one corner, the Abraham camp has the parameters for a long-term deal in place with the Atlanta Falcons, who are offering the Jets a second-round draft pick (47th overall). Abraham, a three-time Pro Bowler, badly wants to play in Atlanta, which is close to his native South Carolina. In the other corner, the Seattle Seahawks also want Abraham -- although they haven't agreed to terms on a long-term contract -- and are offering their first-round pick, the 31st selection overall. It's a difference of 16 spots, a difference the Jets aren't willing to overlook. The Jets placed the franchise tag on Abraham ($8.3 million) but have given him permission to seek a trade. Abraham, who wants a long-term deal, must find a team willing to give him one and then that team must work out a trade with the Jets. The question facing the Jets is should they accommodate Abraham and accept a lesser deal from the Falcons, or should they play hardball and force Abraham to sign with the Seahawks? Or, a third option, Abraham could remain with the Jets if no other team steps up. Both sides have dug in, according to three people with knowledge of the situation. Abraham's agents, Tony Agnone and Rich Rosa, were unavailable for comment yesterday. The Jets don't discuss contract negotiations. The Falcons, according to an Associated Press report, have a structure in place for a long-term deal that would pay Abraham between $15 million and $18 million guaranteed. Atlanta, of course, can always sweeten the pot on its offer to the Jets. The Jets wanted backup quarterback Matt Schaub before acquiring Patrick Ramsey yesterday in a trade, but Atlanta refused. The Falcons have the 15th pick overall in the first round but don't want to part with it. Atlanta, however, could offer the Jets an additional pick (or picks) to get the deal done. Falcons owner Arthur Blank, who flew Abraham to Atlanta from Seattle in his private jet on Wednesday night, is said to want Abraham and may be willing up the ante.
I liked this one too..... he doesnt even want to play in SEA. i think he goes to ATL about 75% chance cause ATL wants him as badly as he wants to be in ATL and theres a 25 % some things go wrong he stays with the jets. i think we should keep our 1st round pick for a corner back as well. our saftyes are good with scoot and milloy and we get a good youngster with hall at corner back and then we have a top secondary in the league. plus our line backing core set with brooking heartwell and williams. and then we get abrham with kearney at DE and colemen in at DT. we are going to have a top defense if not the top defesne if we make these moves. Heartwell? A 25% chance that things go wrong he stays with the jets? LMAO! Do they actually have schools in Georgia?
Good, let Seattle have him and we'll take their first rounder. If not, then send him to Atlanta only if they upgrade their offer. We should only give abe to atlanta if they offer one of the following: #15 overall 2nd rounder, 3rd rounder, 4th rounder, and 7th rounder
Yes, we do have schools in Georgia, unfortunately we also have idiots like everywhere else. This is obviously the result of public schooling, or he could be a transplant from Alabama.
what is the value difference in the 31 and 15? could we do abe + a 3rd for the 15? i think we will get a 3rd back for lamont anyway(though it will be lower than our third)
How about this also an idea from the Falcons board. if we give up the 1st ... 1050 points ... that beats the seattle offer (600pts) by a good 450 points. the jets 4th pick is worth around 102 points. which means we'd beat the seattle offer by 348 points (1050-102-600). that's a pretty big difference. maybe, the deal would include their 3rd too (boy, i'm having fun now!)... which is worth 235 points. that would bring our offer to 113 points better than the hawks (348 -235). now that sounds a lot more plausible. and to me, that's sounds great. give up the 1st, get abraham, get the jets 3rd and 4th round picks too. total deals ... hawks ... 1st rounder at 600 pts falcs ... 1st rounder 1050 .. minus jets 3rd at 235 and 4th at 102 ... for a total of 713 pts - 113 more than the hawks. jets get ... 3 picks in the top 35 (then they are done for the day - and happy as pigs in slop) falcs get ... our 2nd, jets 3rd, our 3rd, jets 4th, and our 4th ... oh yeah, we also get abraham!!
Tell Blank to give us his first rounder straight up for abe or go f*ck himself. Seriously, its getting ridiculous.... Abe is under contract. He is not a free agent.
no 3rds.. no 1st day pick. we can give them a 4th. we can walk away with 5 1st day players that how you rebuild through the draft
Abe deal done? Here's my email notification that I got Falcons l Abraham deal in Atlanta done Sat, 18 Mar 2006 10:42:01 -0800 Adam Schefter , of the NFL Network is reporting that the New York Jets have agreed to send disgruntled DE John Abraham to the Atlanata Falcons after a long session of negotiations.
