Seattle would probably feel a little reluctant to trade for a player that doesn't feel too great about coming to their team, paying that player insane $$$$$, AND losing a first round pick for that player, easpecially when they could get a stud LBer in Peterson and draft a stud OG like Gilles with the 31st pick. Seattle is pretty much out of the picture. So that leaves Atlanta, or keeping him on the bench for a year and let him leave for nothing in 07. What will probably happen is our 2nd rounder and a young player, most likely a LBer, at least that's what I'm hearing.
Are you serious???? Jets do not need Atlanta, they very easily can ship J Abe off to seattle. and get a 1st rounder. i say atl can keep their #15 and Matt Schaub since he will be the guy once Vick tears an ACL. besides Jets dont need matt schaub, we already have a mediocre QB in Ramsey
This Falcon fan stuff is starting to get annoying. We can keep John Abe. If he stays, he will have to shut up and be a good little Johnny so he can get a good contract next year. He can play outside linebacker for us just like Nick Saban did with Jason Taylor. He may not want to play in NY fine but he wants a good contract next so he will, and it will be another contract year for him so he'll try to stay healthy and play. Falcon fans beware, you get John Abraham not in a contract year and you will have him for ten games and no playoff appearances. If you get there.
lmao, then there is no way you get Abe, unless it is for a 2nd this year and 1st next year. If you don't wanna pay up, you ain't gettin the player.
Wishful thinking but this is NOT plausible and this is NOT the Edwards/Bradway era...u might have been right last year...but it's NOT gonna happen
He'll retire a Falcon with 2 to 3 SB rings. Authur Blank "Check" have deep pockets and he's willing to take a risk. That's what businessmen does. They also know when to cut their losses. Mangini is just trying get bolder after that crazy trade involving your former coach. Nobody see's Seahawks games plus his family is 200 miles away from Atlanta. You guys do not want a T.O. situation. We'll give u Duckett. Martin will retire soon. Ramsey and Duckett, the future of J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS football.
He's definitely a top 15 talent. Hell, if he were in the draft he'd go top 10. But in a trade that has the Jets holding limited leverage, he won't be traded for his full value. If the Jets don't trade him, they will be paying him 8 million to sit at home when they could get a second round pick and a player. Forget "balls," you can hang to the floor all you want, but you eventually have to stop thinking with your testicles and start making decision that will better your team.
This FO has been playing hardball since they took over. Why would they stop now? Mangini is a product of Parcells and Belicheck, you really think he would be affraid to make Abraham ride the bench? At this point, it is not about the money or the trade. This new FO is trying to make a point. To change the direction and reputation of the Jets organization. FAs, agents, and teams think they come in an use the Jets as a spring board for better deals, or to fleece the team. Much of this was do to Bradway. Look at what happened with Whitfield, or Herm. This is exactly what Belicheck did when he got to NE, and Marvin Lewis he got to Cinncinati. Both were the Jets of their time. The Jets get value for the pick, or Abraham plays or rides the pine.
I agree with that. A second this year and a 32nd overall next year would be suffice. Good one Big Poppa!!
am I the only one sick of all these falcons fans saying the same thing in every single thread? I mean if all us jet fans are so wrong about deserving a first rounder and you completely disagree with us then just go back to the falcons board you came from. I, for one, am sick of seeing falcon fans in every thread bashing the jets and their desire to get a fair market value for a probowler.
heres the Jets buisness tip to the Falcons..get over yourselves...the ball is in our court..we have the upper hand...you can give it up like a skanky hoe....or you can move along and shop for your DE elsewhere...its 15 or nothing
Nice post. I was ready to have J Abe stand stand in front of the firing squad when he wimped out from playing in the playoffs, it shows what kind of a player he is Jets were one missed FG from going to the AFC Championsip and J Abe isnt playing. What a punk, what if D Brien hits that kick does J abe stay on the sideline in the AFC Championship or even the Superbowl for that matter?
First of all, I never heard Abe publically say he wanted out of NY, and there is this thing called posturing between negotiating parties. I'm very sure if a trade does not get done Abe will sign the tender and play for us a 8 mil. Athletes and agents know there is only a finite amount of years a player is gonna get paid and at 28 yo he's on the other side of that hill, he ain't walking away from 8 mil. 2nd, there are least two other teams (Raiders, Denver) that have been watching the negotiations and could jump back in at time so to make a judgement on the market for him is a lil' premature. And there's a difference between disgruntled and a cancer. Abe is the former, not the latter, and all because he wants to get paid and every FO around the understands that distinction. He might prefer to go to Atl. but if he faces the reality of the league I think he'd be okay with going to Seattle and signing a long term deal for secuirity. And also, this is the first major deal for our FO, they understand this sets the tone for future negotiations. Especially post Herm negotiations where everybody we got ripped, FO ain't caving. So Falcs, seriously, don't think you're holding all the cards on this one.
So you guys would be fine with letting Abraham ride the pine for a year, and then let hi walk for nothing in next year? You wouldn't rather pick up a pick and a player, and a nice chunk of cap room to spend?
I just gave u props Big Poppa on a good draft trade. I'm also not here to trash talk. I'm a fan of my squad just as u are with yours. I wont laugh if you say ya'll will win the SB, I'll just reply, see u there. Act grown up and post logical threads and please try not to be childish.
Trust me... no deal by spring training he will either be a Seahawk or a Jet. I'd personally like to see him ride the bench for the year and see what he gets then.
Just to break it down a bit.... 2 to 3 SB rings??? OK, Abe will salvage your inept QB and some how inspire your awful Dline... Mangini had nothing to do with Herm leaving. He is our HC not our GM... Abe is nowhere near the basket case TO is...TO played hurt, Abe calls in sick with the sniffles
