Shedeur plays pretty well. He might not be special but def seems like he belongs in this league. I can’t believe the Browns stuck with Dillon Gabriel for weeks, that guy is not NFL quality. Railroading your team to make a point or something is so unprofessional. Browns coach should be fired for that
I think if we miss out on Mendoza, we may target Ruben Bain if we pick 3-4. Kind of crazy to think. I could see the colts pick being traded up a bit even to get our QB like a Ty Simpson.
Idk, QB can also red shirt a year too. Doesn’t have to play year 1 if we’ve learned anything here. Either way, they need to address it so it’s one of these guys or trading for someone like Kyler Murray which I wouldn’t want.
Been saying that since I sat in the Rose Bowl last year and watched him do absolutely nothing and get destroyed by Ohio State.
Updated with Week 16 results: Remaining games of teams in contention for the #1 pick, my predictions. Jets 3-12 @NO L (Jets lost) NE L BUF L I think we are a lock to be 3-14. NO is on the rise playing better as the year goes on, NE and BUF are playing for the division and top WC spots. They won't be sitting anyone against us. Ten 3-12 KC (TEN pulled off the win, they’re a potential trade partner if we don’t get ahead of them in the draft order) NO L @Jax L Everything hinges on the KC game, although I don’t think TEN will be drafting QB again so if it isn’t us with the #1, TEN would be next best option since they’ll be trading out. CLE 3-12 BUF L. (CLE Lost) PIT L @CIN (This game will be determining factor) Not sure where we’d stand on tie breakers if they also lose out. I don’t care about Gabriel or Sanders, CLE will draft a QB if they have the #1. We need them to beat CIN. LV 2-13 @HOU L (LV lost) NYG. (this game will be determining factor) KC (this game will be determining factor) LV is a disaster, much as they have a couple winnable games I just don’t see it. If they get the #1 pick they’re taking a QB. NYG 2-13 MIN (Giants lost) @LV. (this game will be determining factor) DAL. L I’d really love the Giants to lose out. They woulddefinitely be a perfect trade partner if we can’t secure the #1 ourselves. AZ 3-12 ATL. L (AZ lost to ATL) @CIN. (this game will be determining factor) LAR. L It’s funny how CIN plays a huge factor in the draft positioning. Hopefully AZ pulls that one out, otherwise they are also drafting a QB no doubt. Our best case scenario is to lose out and secure the #1 ourselves. Next best case is the NYG or TEN gets the #1. TEN or the NYG could potentially gain a massive haul having the #1 pick. Mendoza and Moore will both command trade offers, and I could see a scenario where a team trades down from 1 to 2 prior to the draft, and then again down from 2 during the draft depending on the order. Forexample if NYG has the #1 and we have the #2, I could see us swapping picks for some pf our #1’s, and then the NYG score another load of picks for teams looking to draft Moore.
I do not think the Jets have good odds of getting a pick higher than #4. The Jets will have a better SOS so will lose out on tie breakers for higher draft position with other 3 win teams. Raiders and the Giants are both likely to pick ahead of the Jets even after one of them wins next week. I hope they are blocked from drafting the top 2 QBs, so they can start drafting some talent on both offense and defense because the Jets roster is putrid.
We could pick higher than #4. All our ‘competitors’ for the #1 pick showed signs of life and we were easily the most inept on Sunday. The Giants and Raiders could easily have won and the Browns could have done better if Sanders had not morphed into Justin Fields on key downs. I think we may move up another place to #3, probably behind the Browns and the Giants. Hopefully Buffalo don’t have a reason to rest up for the last game.
Even if Buffalo were to rest their players, there’s no way that this coaching staff could get this roster ready to compete with their backups.
you know whats F'ed up? The Chiefs are going to end up picking in the top 10. They will draft a WR or a RB like Jeremiyah Love and just completely be loaded
the division will be out of their grasp but I think they will still want to play hard for seeding. They might rest up in the 2nd half if they get a lead but I dont think they will be full on going with backups
The Raiders and Giants play each other, so one of them will have 3 wins barring a tie. That game will also bring the strength of schedule value lower for the loser, and CLE’s SoS is even lower, so right now 4 is where we’re sitting and probably stuck. The Giants finish the year against DAL, they might win it. Raiders have KC which is also winnable, CLE has PIT and CIN coming up. PIT will help us with the SoS however we also have NE/ BUF coming up so our SoS will also increase to our detriment. We need the Giants to beat LV, LV to beat KC, and CLE to beat CIN. If those 3 things happen we will be in great shape.
I would also think that they wouldn’t want their last game in their old stadium to be a loss to one of the worst Jets teams ever.
If Giants and Raiders tie that would be the most awesome result to be honest. Any chance that happens?
2nd best option to securing the #1 ourselves is if the Giants get it. They’ll no doubt be trading out.
The Giants, Raiders game this weekend is absolutely huge. It will determine if the Giants will pick 1 most likely which sets us up to trade up from 3. If the Raiders lose we likely have no shot at the #1 and the likelihood of the Browns and Raiders picking ahead of us skyrocket. Definitely watching that one with baited breath.
My only serious concern is I don't see how Cleveland wins another game. They play Pittsburgh and a non-tanking Cincinnati. They will most likely get their pick at QB (assuming thats what they're doing). Jets can't realistically jump them. Giants can win either of the next two weeks, and so can the Raiders. Raiders are trying to win, and I think the Giants are as well. Although, they looked atrocious doing it. If the Jets absolutely need Mendoza, I think the only hope is trading up with the Giants from 3 to 1. Trade 9, 17 and a second next year and be done with it. If the team likes Dante Moore as well, just sit at 3 and let him come to you. That gives you 17, 35 and 45 to address WR and Defense.
Giants Raider we need the Raiders to win. Hopefully they repeat what they did against the Texans. Browns looked good against the Bills. Can they beat the Steelers (no) to set up a Ravens-Steelers win and in in week 18. If the Giants get one does the new coach maybe gm prefer Mendoza or if Moore comes out and they trade Dart. Two long weeks of watching this team be noncompetitive again. Fun 15 years.
