Not the worst way to go unless the money is really huge. But shit, even average QB play would be an improvement over the shitshow we’ve been watching this year, and honestly years and years too
Fire AG, entice Kliff Kingsbury with those draft picks and sit back to watch the ride. I would secretly look into this, with Kliff, to see if it would even be an option. Just spitballing ideas.
I’d be fine with this (just make sure it does NOT include Murray) I’d also be fine with eating crow and calling McCarthy back… Or find the right OC if you want to go rookie route though not sure who that would be Turnarounds shouldn’t take 20 fucking years…
Not really the worst idea. Problem is, Kliff most likely have only 1 more shot to be the Head Coach in this league. Do you think he will waste his chance on the Jets?
That truly is the obstacle, is it not? Finding someone decent who is willing to put his career on the line.
Do you really think any plan for next year should be focused on winning yhe Superbowl thst year? If we go 8-9 next year, give the young guys a lot of playing time, and go into the following season with a healthy Daniel Jones at QB then sign me up.
No, I'm not in love with any of the possible options. If someone falls though, and usually a QB does, it might be a good decision
No on Danny Dimes, tired of the retreads. We are drafting a QB one way or another, hate to break it to you. Glenn is already going to be on the proverbial hot seat next year he can't afford to roll into the season with Fields 2.0 he is going to want his guy (or the closest thing they can get to it this year). I don't even care about next season assuming we keep this staff (which we will..) so it's really of no consequence to me but just saying they are absolutely drafting a QB this year, question is how and where. I will only be upset if he spends 27 capital because that should belong to the next regime to find their QB.
You’re still bringing in a veteran QB (maybe 2?) regardless of whether or not you draft a QB. So who would you suggest? He’s going to get a big multi-year deal from someone maybe similar to Fields’s deal but larger with more guaranteed money into the second year. He started to turn into a pumpkin again as soon as they stopped playing the Titans and Raiders. His last 4 games excluding the Jaguars game: 1-3 record 979 passing yards/74 rushing yards 61.9% completion 7 total touchdowns (6 passing/1 rushing) 4 interceptions, 3 fumbles lost (7 total fumbles) The passing yardage numbers are a little inflated too as he threw for almost a hundred of those yards when they were down 3 scores against the Steelers. I think that’s an easy pass. Oh and he got hurt again which he’s struggled with throughout his career.
Good question lol, they are all pretty terrible so if I had my way it would be the cheapest stop gap we can find without giving up draft capital. I don't even care if it's Tyrod as long as they start the rookie at some point to see if we need another one in 27
So you have no opinion on most things as far as the Jets on-field future other than complaining about Glenn and in general you don’t want to discuss any tangible football stuff without infusing your disgust with him and the coaching staff. Am I getting that part right? Edit: @NOVAJET it didn’t work when I quoted your post for whatever reason. It disappeared.
Had to fix my reply because it was stuck in the quote but sure whatever you think. I have the same opinion as the majority on here I believe but who knows, It's all just speculation anyway. Is there tangible football stuff to discuss with this team? What tangible football stuff would you like to discuss?
Yes I don't think Glenn will be here after next year so I base my opinion and predictions on that, not sure how I can draw conclusions based on a future I don't believe in. I'm not Nostradomus nor do I have some weird obsession with hating Glenn he just has shown absolutely nothing to make me think he will be a good HC. With that in mind I based my comment on it, not sure what else you want me to do and I apologize if you disagree but the Jets future is a "choose your own adventure" book and mine goes that direction while yours flips to a different chapter. We are all just Jets fans in the end, we are all on the same side.
Well there’s nothing more tangible than our 0-7 start or our current 3-11 record, or our ZERO picks, or our bottom of the barrel ranked offense and defense. We suck all the way around. Glenn and his staff is a BIG part of that… Like many others here, I’ve seen nothing from AG that gives me any hope that he knows what he’s doing or that he can turn it around. Doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t, but I wouldn’t bet my house on it. He’s made bad personnel choices like Fields, he’s made bad coaching hires like Wilks, he’s made many bad on-field decisions (which honestly is not that unusual for new HC’s so I can give a pass there), and the team doesn’t look or feel like a young up and coming team. It feels like a bad team that doesn’t give a shit, plays at half speed, and has tuned out the coaching long ago. In his first year. Not a lot to feel optimistic about…would have loved to see SOMETHING…
Well I asked what QB you think they should bring in and you said you don’t know, just a cheap one and then reinforced the fact you’re generally not going to have an opinion on anything until Glenn is gone. Idunno, I guess I just don’t get posting the same thing over and over again but hey man, you do you. Eh I don’t really think they’ve played at half speed or tuned out the coaching. We’re starting a UDFA at QB, three receivers who weren’t on the opening day roster and were basically dart throws, a 6th round special teamer at corner, two UDFA’s at safety/slot corner, a UDFA at weakside linebacker, etc. It’s easy to conflate a trash roster who doesn’t know what they’re doing with “zero effort.”
To be honest, if I'm the Colts, I don't let Jones walk out the door. Richardson is a non-starter and is not an NFL caliber QB. I wouldn't be shocked if they extend Jones for at least 2 more years if not more.
