I don't think Sanu has ever really been that good and definitely didn't work out like the Patriots needed him to last year. Either way - we should throw a claim in. We need as many professional receivers as we can get. The roster count should be kept in mind as well though as well. We can only keep so many guys including dudes who are injured. The NFL really needs a better way to put guys on like a week to week DL list.
It sounds like he was checked out because the Pats were checked out on him. They had been trying to trade him because of his salary and he apparently looked like he was well aware of it during practice. That’s a pretty bad look for him but I wouldn’t even hesitate to throw a claim in.

Good point. I’d say that severely lessens the chances he’ll be a Jet, not that I think they were all that high to begin with.
