Now 3-1 and TB winning the cup tonight. These kids are too fast too aggressive and too battle tested.
Terrible call last night to give Tampa Bay the Power Play and the eventual game winner, but that happens in hockey. Unfortunate, because it has been an even and great series to watch. Hopefully Dallas extends the series tonight, but I could definitely see Tampa Bay finishing the job. The Capitals did the same in 2018. Lost Game 1, then won 4 straight to hoist the Cup.
THE TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING ARE THE 2020 COVID-19 BUBBLE STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!!!!!!! I had a gut feeling that they would win the Cup before they re-started the season, because they have been the most talented team, but they choked under pressure in recent years. There was no pressure with no fans and I think that helped them a lot. Teams like the Capitals feed off the energy of the crowd. They looked completely dead without them. That is no excuse, but it definitely played a role I feel. Now that Tampa Bay has felt the feeling of being Champs, I think they have a decent chance to repeat in 2021 under normal settings. We will see. Overall, the Playoff Bubble went pretty well. I am excited for Free Agency to begin and hopefully we can get back to our normal arenas in 2021. Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Lightning and their fans!
No fans had nothing to do with it. You have to learn to lose together before you know how to win. They've been on the cusp of greatness but have choked during postseason. This year they were determined and ready for playoff war. They didn't lose back to back games throughout the entire playoffs. Rays are going to win the WS too. TB becoming little title town.
I think it did and the entire playoff format did. Just my opinion. Nothing wrong with that though, as Tampa Bay is a great team and has been in recent seasons. They deserved and earned a Stanley Cup. If the season wasn't halted in March, would they have hoisted the Stanley Cup in June? Maybe. Maybe not. We will never know. Definitely had a good chance. As you should be! Congratulations on the Cup!
Henrik Lundqvist has signed for the Washington Capitals as a free agent. He is chasing the Stanley Cup to cap of his amazing career. Even though he's Swedish, as we have a good rivalry with them especially in hockey, I hope he gets one. He fully deserves one.
Yeah, really excited to have him in DC. When he was bought out, I instantly knew he was going to the Capitals. It just felt right, especially with Holtby moving on. Speaking of Braden Holtby, he signed a 2 year deal with the Vancouver Canucks. I wish him nothing but the best. A true class act.
Isn’t he like 5 years older than Holtby? I’m surprised Capitals went that route to be honest but maybe a change of scenery is what some of these guys need.
It's about money. Holtby got around $5 million a year and Lundqvist got only $1.5 million. Samsonov will be the Capitals #1 goalie, so they didn't want to pay Holtby that much to be a potential #2 goalie. I have a feeling Lundqvist could be the eventual starter for the Caps and get some starts if they make a playoff run though.
Hellllllllllll no, sorry Hank buddy but that ship sailed when you left the Rangers. Best of luck health and happiness wise but may you be eliminated from the playoffs by the Rangers every year you're still playing
Doc Emrick has announced his retirement as a play-by-play announcer. https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/19/us/doc-emrick-retirement-nhl-spt-trnd/index.html
He was great! One of the best. I will always cherish his call of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final. He survived cancer and now will enjoy the rest of his life. God bless!
Terrible news about Lundqvist being out...for Lundqvist and hockey in general. For Islanders fans, if this screws up the Caps goalie situation, I’ll accept that silver lining to hopefully not a terrible situation for him.
