Islanders are not built to out muscle the Bruins, although their goalie situation is a huge advantage for their opponents at this point. Under Trotz we’ve been relatively succesful against TB because we are built to slow down good offenses. Add to that the fact that the scumbag Bruins are going to leave the Lightning rather battered and I believe the Lighting are a better matchup.
That was my thinking I wasn't sure if Rask opting out my have changed that a bit...guess I'll just root for a longer series.
As an insecure and superstitious fan, I’m certainly not in an emotional position to get excited about it in the event of jinxing the possibility, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t believe this team could pull it off. but I’ll believe it when it happens.
The Stars won Game 1, 1-0 over the Golden Knights, to take a 1-0 series lead in the Western Conference Final. The Islanders and Lightning play Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final tonight. The Lightning and Golden Knights are the two best overall teams left, but the Stars and Islanders are both playing the best right now. We will see what gives!
Kohdubin has been playing lights out for the Stars. If Islanders don’t make it I’m rooting for Dallas.
The Stars scored so fast in OT I missed it last night, flipping over to watch the Chiefs. Dallas has really impressed me, as they take a 2-1 lead over the Golden Knights. The Islanders are down 2-0 to the Lightning. We will see if they can bounce back after a tough Game 2 ending tonight.
https://www.cbssports.com/nhl/news/capitals-hire-peter-laviolette-as-new-head-coach/ Caps hire Peter Laviolette as the new HC
The guy must be an a-hole... or really just rubs people the wrong way. He's a great coach, yet always changing teams. I think the Isles couldve on the list too with more commitment.
Really happy with the hire. I was hoping the Caps would choose him. My only question is What went wrong with Nashville? I felt like they were a Cap-caliber team that just couldn't get over the hump. Similar to the Caps for many years prior to winning the Cup. Either way, I think it is a good move for the Caps but also a good move for Laviolette.
The Preds missed their window; he wasn’t their problem but coaches are always going to take the fall.
I meant Cup-Caliber but Cap-Caliber is pretty similar the last decade so it still works! Yeah, that makes sense with the Preds. The Caps' window is likely closed too but with the talent they have, a move or two and a new coach could give them the proper boost to go on a run in 2021.
Somehow, we are already at the Stanley Cup Final! Game 1 tonight: Dallas Stars vs. Tampa Bay Lightning. I said watch out for the Lightning in my Cup pick. I just felt their main issue was folding to the pressure the last couple years. In the bubble, there is no pressure from fans. You just play. Dallas is on fire though. I kind of feel like they have the edge. I will say Stars in 6. What do you guys say?
TB was my non-Islanders pick before the playoffs started, and I’ll ride it out, but even before game 1 I had a feeling that Dallas would end up winning. they pose a much different threat on offense than the Isles that Tampa can’t easily defend, and their goalie keeps getting better as the playoffs go on, and that’s usually what ends up winning.
