I hope MLF rolls Zach out to the right side a lot.. Maybe go 2 TE's as insurance. I have no faith that left side of the OL will get fixed before next Sunday.
It will be interesting to see if they can scheme around the O-lines weakness. Zach is pretty good at rolling out and making plays... hopefully his knee is up to it.
I am old enough to have seen the original as well as a remake with Adam Sandler. I know I'm going to get killed for this but I really think the remake was slightly better.
This is the big question. The knee may be technically ready to go, but how much will Zach's game have to be modified? If he's less mobile and has to stand in the pocket... well, there is no pocket.
When your offensive line is as shaky as the Jets currently is you really need to be running the ball a lot more than the Jets are and you need to be doing it early. You have to do everything you can to eat the clock on offense because otherwise you’re going to gas the defense.
Ian Eagle: “The Jets are taking no chances with Zach Wilson today.” Boomer: “It’s really hard to play QB in an iron lung...”
The crazy thing is Max Mitchell has a higher PFF grade than Ikem Ekwonu and Evan Neal. I hope JD and his staff were able to find a diamond in the rough with Max.
Very interesting. I'm surprised Flacco has prevented any sacks at all with his lack of mobility. I would assume that has more to do with his ability to throw out of sacks before they happen but that's just a guess on my part.
Here's the isssue...say they WIN vs steelers, EVERYONE thinks the ship is steered straight, then what? They come UNPREPARED for the next game, after listening all week to ..oh the practices were fantastic..blah blah..then they stink it up with DUMB SHIT,that REFUSES to go away. Let me see them win 5 in a row for the 1st time since the 90s. Its ridiculous. NOT, UNTIL I SEE IT MYSELF.
Without some sort of change along the OL the Jets should NOT start Zach. If you're going to develop a young QB you have give him protection and the Jets cannot provide that right now. I don't want Zach pushed out there while he's doomed for failure. George Fant is the worst player on the OL right now bar none. He's not healthy and he should be benched. CHANGE is in order. I would bench Fant, move AVT to Left Tackle and put McGregor at RG. The only way this team is going to start doing their jobs is for change to happen....
With the skill guys we have, I think LaFleur can scheme around some deficiencies on the OL for a week or two. This may mean Zach looks more like Mike White in his first couple of starts but we have guys that can win in man-to-man coverage. Play the dink and dunk game with Zach, use misdirection, counters, slip screens, etc. There are a lot of things LaFleur can do to help Zach and the OL, the only question left is, will he do it?
