At this point, Sanchez is progressing very slowly. I guess it's better than nothing but he's not #5 pick talent worthy yet. While I acknowledge his increase in productivity under a less talented offense, he still has one major problem that he has not fixed. He's prone to the big, game-changing mistake. His decision making is good 90% of the time. It's the 10% that scares me.....

I still believe he can be our quarterback. I do not know if he will ever be manning or brady good, but he has the talent to take us to and win the SB. He needs to clean up on his mistakes especially the pick 6s. Also, give the kid more freedom to call plays. Aubidling the plays can be very advantageous for the offense. Finally, we need a core group of recievers. I'm tired of every year since 2009 we have changed the recieving core. It is not good for a developing quarterback to have constant changing in the recieving position.

I can do this consistently week in and week out. Which is why when people go on about how much Sanchez sucks I just say "Alex Smith" and walk away.

Audibling comes from system familiarity as much as what the defense is showing. I think, first off, we need a new system. Which means a new OC. I also think we need one good young receiver, but with all the other holes on this team, I don't see us getting one right away. I personally, think filling the RT spot needs to be a draft priority, followed by Safety and OLB.

Most QBs picked that early in a draft don't play right away and those that do tend to have problems for a while. Look at Eli. Even Peyton took a few years to get going. Same for Drew Brees. All the best QBs in the NFL right now either sat the bench for a while (Rodgers, Brady) or were given considerable time to develop and had some up and down years.

The throw to Holmes was tipped by the linebacker. Who knows where it would've been.

If that throw was not tipped it would have gone for 6.

    I watched it again yesterday.

When did Holmes work with Sanchez this off-season?

His no-show at the Jets West camp was frequently discussed and as far as the few whole-team practices went, I could have sworn he stuck mostly to conditioning drills and stayed away from the practice drills and 7-on-7s or whatever they were running.

I see Rex gave some first team reps to Brunell, let the overreaction begin...

your kidding yourself with those stats. Great players make players around them better. Sanchez does not do that, and is not a smart QB. His talent is average at best. Im sorry, but i dont see this player taking us to the next level. Dont know what the alternative is, but it certainly lends a need to fully explore....

Our version of "more protection" is Matt Mulligan and Ducasse.

Numbers don't tell the whole story. He has not gotten better, its not just all his fault. Its everything, coaching, starters, lack of depth, no deep threat, crappy RB. The offense needs a tuneup, like the 90,000 mile one where they charge you $800.

He's had such flashes of goodness...I just don't want to sell this kid short.
Wasn't it this time last year when Rex threatened to bench Sanchez?
If there was someone behind him that could play.
He's just got to pull his head out his ass...

He's gotten a little better. Obviously he hasn't improved enough to make a difference but you're right, every other offensive unit declined between last year and this year.

Sanchez has progressed just not as much as we hoped. There are many reasons for this, but chief among them are the revolving door he has to deal with at WR and the offensive coordinator unfortunately being the same old bag of shit he always has been.

EVERY other team adds new wrinkles or exploits mismatches, finds ways to get the ball to their playmakers.. what do we get? 5 guys running a curl 4 yards down the field on 3rd and 5, or routes designed to have players run into each other. Fucking joke.

Who do we even have to create a mismatch anyway? Maybe Burress once we're in the end zone, but other than that we don't have a guy that the other team looks at and thinks "He's going to be a problem."

^Maybe we should trade a #1 for Doug Jolley or something? That would really set us up for success, and cause a lot of problems for defenses.
