Yeah, by no means should Scott be on the field in any capacity via 3rd down unless he's a clear blitzer. He's no longer a 3 down player.
In the first few minutes of the game and after seeing Cinci drag 3 players off the field, I'm thinking, 'I'm glad the Jets have someone else besides Jets to hit'. During the half I began thinking how much fun it would be for McElroy to play the 3rd quarter and give the 4th quarter to Tim and turn him loose.
The last time we saw the Jets play meaningful football the O sucked. While I agree the pre-season is irrelevant, last night the O sucked playing irrelevant football.
Get over the 'one trick pony' bullshit. I don't care that he didn't make a splash in the first pre-season game of the year, if you haven't seen the improvements Maybin has made since coming to the Jets you need to get your eyes examined. And who cares what school Davis came from - he looked pretty good for his first time stepping onto an NFL field. I agree that Scott and Pace both look like they're on the decline (Scott for sure), but there's no reason to shit on Maybin and Davis - these guys have barely gotten their feet wet yet - give it a rest.
Doom and Gloom! The sky is falling! WOW! All this after one vanilla preseason game! Lets revist after the 4th preseason game and then talk. This is totally premature and needless!
Ye I think you are right. This is just the first game, and the team has been in camp for only a few days. But if things don't improve, the chorus for change will get louder. Me personally, I think this organization just doesn't get it. " Ground and pound" is great when you have a top RB and offensive line. The Jets have neither. I'm definitely not sold on Sparano. Not right now... We'll see...
Also we have to remember this is a new system. They have 4 games to work this out where results don't matter. Now if this becomes a problem in the regular season we can start acting like the sky is falling, we should fire everyone, trade everyone, trade for everyone, and move the franchise to Alaska. But now, I think we can stay pat and see if the offense can get ready by week 1
i fail to see how last season has any relevance to a vanilla non game planned preseason game the following year during the installation of a new system.
You fail to see the relevance of last years OL playing awful, and having the very same OL this year playing awful this preseason ? Im not by any means suggesting its the dooms day scenario this thread makes it sound like, but its pretty obvious that our offensive line is going to suck major fucking cock this year.
Funny seeing “whinny bitches” and it not being said about your posts. Prime example- this thread. Im sure you got a kick out of Braylons TD catch vs Ten. today...
Doesn't this OP write the most depressing stuff on this board? I can't even part take in this, It's Preseason game one. Can we please wait to make assumptions 3rd week of preseason?
that may be obvious to you however you need to understand the team is installing new blocking schemes to go with new system...with that said, no game planning, vanilla type plays, with new blocking schemes = what you saw. you can come to all the conclusions you want based on 6 minutes of BS football...i prefer not to.
New system old system Schottes difficult system always a reason why we cant move the ball up and down the field and points on the board. 1 more than any NYJETS WR this pre-season! Dont respond in the thread if you dont like it.
I don't get why you are complaining about 1 preseason game right now. You expected everyone to learn the offense immediately, and then without our starting RT, #1 WR, and #3 wide receiver and a vanilla gameplan march down the field 3 times for 21, scratch 24 points since our offense is so unstoppable? Again if the problems creep up in the regular season, bad. Now, they have 3 weeks to work on it. This isn't Madden where you can just go out and drop points at will. Look at NE, MIA, and BUf -> 7,7,6 points. If you are worried about the Jets offense not scoring you should be excited since all those teams couldn't score either.
The problem is this teams been practicing for awhile mini-camp, Jets-West,training camp you name it. The display they put on Friday showed me nothing to get excited about. 6 points off 2 field goals, the offense barely moved the ball. They started off right where they left off last season.
