So going back to 2011, there have been 21 teams that have been a top 7 seed with a top 25 raw offensive efficiency (points per possession) but with a raw defensive efficiency ranking of 135 or worse. Among these 21 teams, 0 made the Final 4, only 3 made the Elite 8 and eight teams (!) were upset by a double digit seed in round one. Only one of the 10 teams that meet the Empty Suits category since 2017 have made it past round two. Last season, three such teams (Iowa, Purdue and Ohio State) met this criteria. Iowa lost in round one to 12th seeded Richmond while OSU lost to Villanova in round two. Purdue in the Sweet 16 lost to 15th seed St. Peters to thwart any sort of run by them as well. I would really hesitate placing any of these teams in your Final 4 and feel free to look strongly at picking against these teams early in your bracket if you are trying to differentiate yourself in your bracket. Teams that meet this criteria this season include Gonzaga, Xavier, Baylor and Miami (FL).
Same on ML’s. I have Mizzou in this game. What a dreadful turnover by Virginia and the nuts on that guy on Furman to yank the string on the 3.
Ended up breaking even after a 4 for 4 start. But that’s a win for me haha. I like USC today I think to start.
Also VCU/St. Mary’s over. I get that these two teams play defense and slow methodical offense but out of principal I have to believe the energy of the tournament can carry them into the 60’s.
Hahaha I didn’t but that’s hilarious. I don’t touch big spreads in the first round like that for that reason.
Seems like MSU has all the energy that comes from having one of the great tourney coaches of all time.
How does Purdue not just throw it to the guy whose a foot taller than everyone else on the court every time and let him dunk it? Whether it’s coaching or not, you have to fire Matt Painter I think. Can’t keep losing to bottom 4 seeds with a roster littered with top recruits.
Last year was their year with Ivey and Edey. I had SDSU/Furham U63 and they hit a buzzer beater before half to go over. Brutal loss. Hit them live for -15. Currently have Duke -3, saw like 80%+ of bets and money on Duke so feel kinda square but Tenn missing their best player and Duke is playing really well as of late
