Trade entire team beside, Wright (chop down his salary), Santana, & K-Rod, keep Murphy around and see how he ends up. Shoot Omar Minaya If only it were possible
Dude. Your one of the best posters here and you really know a lot of shit on a variety of subjects. But please PLEASE change that avatar.
MONDAY, 7:44pm: Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Mets are considering offering Molina a deal that would pay him $6MM next year and include an option for 2011. It's not clear what kind of option they're considering. The Mets would prefer not to offer Molina a two-year deal, but they haven't ruled such a deal out.
Mets, Brewers trying to make trade work — a/o 11:43 a.m. EST Talk of a John Maine-for-Corey Hart trade is legitimate, but a deal cannot happen unless the Mets first add another starting pitcher, creating the depth to move Maine. The discussions, first reported by the New York Post, are contingent on the Mets — and possibly the Brewers — making other moves, sources said. The Mets are shopping for an upper-level free-agent starter such as left-hander Randy Wolf or righty Joel Pineiro. They want to add a free-agent innings eater such as right-hander Jon Garland or Jason Marquis. They also are looking at possible trades. Wolf, major-league sources say, has received a three-year, $27 million offer from the Brewers. However, his agents are continuing to meet with other teams, with one source close to Wolf saying it was "early in the process." Maine's biggest success in the majors came when Rick Peterson was his pitching coach with the Mets. Peterson is now the pitching coach of the Brewers. The Mets are not one of the teams attempting to trade for Rangers right-hander Kevin Millwood. They explored the possibility weeks ago, but could not make the finances work. Millwood is signed for $12 million next season. -- Ken Rosenthal Seems like typical S.O.M. action; deplete the already-wafer-thin rotation with no backup plan at all.
I can't see that Maine trade happening. However, I would like us to sign Molina, that would be sweet.
Why would you like us to sign Molina? I would love to hear someone try to argue that this would be a good move.
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/12/mets-offer-two-years-to-bengie-molina.html mets offer bengie molina 2years $12 million
do you mean molina will transform them into the second coming of Cain and Lincecum or Sanchez? hmy:....
Minaya and co are truly geniuses, they manage to lower fans expectations so much that signing B Molina seems like a big deal.............frankly i could give a rats ass about the C position with so many other holes to fill.
Zaun, who just signed for 1.9M with the Brewers(?) would have been a much better option for far less money and only year, than Molina will be.
I don't know how a GM with the amount of holes his team has and the payroll restrictions that he is working under can think giving 6 mil to an old catcher is a good idea. We are the Knicks of baseball, only worse.
^ Lebron's going to the Knicks and Halladays going to Mets. And the Jets will get Peyton Manning too.
