even if Bay turns out to be a steal this offseason is a fail by Omar. He has not filled firstbase, catcher or addressed our starting pitching at all. Last I looked we were a month away and the FA market is dwindleing quickly! Omar is a joke!
random story, wasn't sure if it merited a new thread http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100128&content_id=7992728&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
Pretty strange that Redding decided to talk about this now. Why bother? IMO all it does is make him look bad. Anyway, did anyone else see Dan Patrick's column in this week's SI? In it Dwight Freeney says that he is a Mets fan, but always wears Yankees caps because fashionwise "it's hard to do the blue and orange." How lame - somehow I doubt that he's rockin' a Patsy hat if he's wearing a red tie and blue suit. Is he seriously suggesting that this much blue and orange is a fashion problem? And he went to Syracuse - why not wear this hat instead of a Yankees one?
no, I didn't read it, but I have the issue. I usually read them a few days after they come out. That's hilarious. A Met fan who wears a Yankees cap as a fashion statement. if he doesn't like the blue and orange, then don't wear any baseball caps. There are other options out there for Syracuse alumni, as jeff pointed out.
LaRoche is still out there... I don't care about Bay because all it did was throw money at one of the many glaring problems. This team hit it's peak in 2006 and has done nothing but fail since. Omar never should have been brought back and it's for this very reason. With that core and adding Santana who at the time was the best pitcher in game has done nothing for thsi team. Meanwhile the Phillies have dominated the NL and are clearly the favorites to do so again. If the Mets finish within 15 games of the Phils it'll be a miracle.
So when the Mets traded for Putz last season, they never gave him a physical, and he already had the bone spur acting up. And then when he told them about it, they told Putz to not speak to the media about it and to tell them he's fine. Incredible. I'm shocked because I never thought they'd actually be this retarded.
That's right... a team even worse then us made a move for a 1st baseman. The Dbacks got themselves a nice 1st baseman.
I wrote this... http://wrongsideofthecity.blogspot.com/2010/02/mets-statement-is-crap-see-maine-john.html The Mets knew about bone spurs, because Maine suffered immensely from one in 2008, and they still made this deal. Anyone who has ever had a bone spur knows it's extremely painful and irritating. Then again, these are the Madoff Mets. Z probably called the Wilpons and said, have I got a deal for you, don't worry about the details...closer, throws fast, looks mean, and all I want is some depth...you can hold a press conference and declare your closer problem solved Whaddya say?" -X-
Jeese you guys need to give Murphy some credit. He started the year out real well and struggled because he was ONE at bat away from being considered a rookie. The kid has shown offensive skills his whole life and the Mets are showing confidence that he can become a great player. Not everyone becomes a star overnight.
It's good that Omar is sticking to his one high profile signing while ignoring the rest of the team that's served him so well over the past few years.
It's that aggressive take that's going to allow the Mets to only finish 15 games behind Philly as opposed to 25.
Ladies and gentleman, it's time to bring back the Mike Jacobs for President sigs! http://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/8878332237
Wow... didn't realize he wasn't even going to be on anybody's 40 man roster. Playing in Florida and KC will do that to you.
