i am a big pennington fan...and people have asked me if i would have followed him to another team and i tend to say no or lets just hope that doesnt happen(only way i would even care about another team), but if chad wasn't here and more importantly we had manning...i may not be a jets fan
i hate peyton manning...always have and always will
hated him with tennesse and hate him with the colts
did anyone see the picture of him last night when he was 11?...same giant head
i actually find myself pulling for the patriots every time they meet

They wanted a committment from Parcells that he would draft him but when he couldn't do that he returned to UT to choke against Florida again.

Manning is a choker, we wouldnt have a shot at the super bowl with him.

How would we have Johnson and Manning if they took manning number 1?

Because we took Keyshawn #1 the previous year.

Sorry I offended some of you. I actually can see the logic in some of your POV's.

However, I disagree strongly that had we drafted Manning, that (1) the Jets would not have gone further than the Colts (2) Parcells would have left after 3 years and (3) Our team would be no better today.

I think having Peyton Manning in NY would have been like having Joe Namath in the 1960's. Some of you may be too young to know what that did to both the Jets and the AFL. Read the book "Namath" by Kriegel to get an idea. Having Joe Willie changed the team's entire perspective and transformed a team that really didn't change that much from the 1965 team to the 1968 Super Bowl Champsions.

I think the Jets would have won at least 1 and probably 2 or 3 Super Bowls. I think our coach today is Belichick and Parcells is honorary president running the club from Sea Girt.

YEa but you have to look at it this way too. We are going to be similar to the colts. All O and no D. We wouldnt have Vilma and Co. because we would be drafting around the late 20's

We cant say that if we had Peyton we would have the same team we had in the past couple of years but the only difference is that we have Peyton instead of Vinny n Penny.

Can we agree on this: trading the #1 pick overall for Leon Johnson and the #9 pick overall was dumb.

I'm with ya JKA.... I've always said that. Parcells kinda blew that draft and it would have been a wee bit different.. You don't know if the Jets would have made the SB based on what Manning has done....

He's a great QB, one of the best ever..

Well, we did get Farrrior who turned into a fine player, just not for us. He did win a Super Bowl and was a very important player on that team, as did Pace on his team. In fact, everyone won the Super Bowl, except us. Whusupwitdat?

Who cares if he turned into a good player for another team? he had 1 good year for us in 5. parxcells did a horrendous job from '97-'99 in the draft.
