Provided no Trade down. I would be happy with Adams in the 1st and Njoku in the 2nd. Miami churns out quality TE's Not sure if he'll last that long, but fingers crossed.
Believe it or not, I agree with you. I spent some time trying to prove my point, and came to that same conclusion - the top edge rushers and safeties will be gone by the 3rd round. So a hard choice will have to be made, especially if they can't trade down and get more premium picks. In that case, I was thinking they should take Reddick 1st, then hope Mahomes falls to them - not likely - or take the BPA at a position of need, preferably on offense. But reality has sunk in, and I'm on board with trading down and acquiring picks. There, now you can say "I told you so!"
I can only shake my head at all Lattimore scuttlebutt. We don't need a Milliner replay. It doesn't matter how good someone is if they can't stay healthy and stay on the field. No on Lattimore.
we don't run him into the ground when we have forte and powell as well. I'd say split series with him and forte and use Powell as the 3rd down back. then next year forte will be gone and split series with fournette and powell (like cincy did with geo and hill) and then in his 3rd year he'll still be fresh and by then we should have some decent talent if mac does a good job
I think Hackenberg is going to turn out to be the franchise QB the Jets need. No need to take one this or next year.
In what way, does playing Hackenberg save his job? Chances are that Watson would play better than him next season given what we saw from both in college. The Jets will probably take Hooker. But after everyone watches Hackenberg next season and finishes 2-14, Mac's tenure will be all but over in New York.
What makes you think Watson will be a good NFL QB in JETLIFE Stadium winds throwing a low velocity ball? I'll take a 2-14 from Hack even if he throws 30 interceptions. That will get us a ticket for next years QB that know the pro style offense.
His job may be toast anyway...I don't think it should be since Mac needs to at least be allowed to hire his own coach. Watson does not have the tools to succeed in the league and his game does not translate well. Hack at least can run a pro offense and has a better arm and has some ability to go through progressions and read a defense, and even he's a longshot because of baffling accuracy and footwork issues.
Adams is the only guy on defense I would take at 6. I don't trust any of the others + see a lot of bust potential. I think we should pass on a qb too at 6 for the same reason. Go with the best all around offensive player in this draft, McCaffrey. He's a perfect fit for the way curent NFL offenses operate and will also tip the field in the return game. Howard would be the other guy worth taking.
If you had read the next part of my post I acknowledged that, and then offered a suggestion on what to do IF there was no trade down partner. Pardner.
I think the pick will end up being Hooker if the Jets stay at 6, because I don't think Adams or Fournette will be on the board at 6.
I don't think there is anything surprising here. I would be ok with it. The Jets have been linked to him for some time...
you build a team with talented players, you don't reach for a need because needs change rapidly. you build a solid core of players and you look at not just this year but the next few years as well. in 2018 (next season) we will only have 1 decent RB on the roster (powell turning 30) and 1 QB on the roster (hackenburg) as it stands now.
