Sorry guys - black and white - Curtis Martin doesn't "deserve" it. He laid an egg in the AFC Championship game - a game which was winnable, and let's not forget we would have killed the Falcons that year. If he deserved it, he would have played better in his biggest game as a Jet. Most deserving is Vinny - that 1999 was to be his year. I loved Curtis. He was that rare player who reached his potential - the anti-Moss if you will. BUT - players that give it their all and maximize their talents often come up short as more talented players who show up in big games can shut them down when it matters.
I voted for Martin, but all of those guys are pretty deserving, especially the Sack Exchange. Martin and Klecko are in the "ring of honor" so at least they got a ring in some way, even if they can't put it around their fingers.
How can so few say Chrebet after how impaired he is now just from playing the game? Gotta give it to him. Curtis and Vinny are close seconds. (I grew up in the 90's)
The clear and definitive answer here is Curtis Martin. Not only did he man a rush attack that was always near the top of the league year in and year out, but he opened up everything for Vinny. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the Vinny/Martin Jets not winning a SB for me is the biggest disappointment in this team's history. I will always Always ALWAYS wonder what could have been if Vinny hadn't torn his ACL.
I look at it this way... Klecko and Martin might be the two greatest Jets ever (although it's up for debate) but while Klecko continues to get pissed on by the HOF Martin is a surefire bet to become one of the few Jets to make it to Canton. It's a small consoloation prize but appears like one Klecko will never see so I voted for him.
Can't believe there's no love for Kyle Clifton here, a tackling machine, team leader who came to play every Sunday, played on mostly shit teams...
Cherbet spent his whole career in NY and helped us win a lot of games but you can say that about many Jets players. Impaired? Talk to Dennis Byrd if you want to see impaired. Wesley Walker played his whole career with one good eye. There are much better stories of Jets players that went without rings. Just because Cherebet might have been your favorite doesn't make him the most deserving.
