Of the former Jets I'll go w/ Curtis Martin who gave his heart and soul to this organization. he was nothing short of a class act on and off the field. He played through injuries and always showed up in big games. Current Jets? It's hard not to go w/ Shaun Ellis. Ellis has been a borderline pro bowler at his position and a locker room leader his entire career.. It's time Jet fans start recognizing him for the great long term player he has been for this organization. No body is mistaking him for Lawrence Taylor..but he's always been a tough, physical, Jet who has played through injuries and gotten some big clutch sacks over the years! Honorable mentions: Brandon Moore: Rised up from being an undrafted free agent making a position change to being a very solid guard on some very good O-lines. He's also been very durable..missing very little time at a very physical position Bryan Thomas: He's not Ed Reed, but BT has been a solid player under 3 different Jet coaches. Another guy who has played through some injuries and made some big plays, especially in the running game. BT has been oft-criticized but I believe it's time Jet fans embrace him as a very solid long term Jet
Voted for Curtis because in my opinion he really symbolized what "Playing like a Jet" really meant. However there are many on equal footing. Most everyone on that list and a lot more. However, the real ring-less Jets whom deserves a ring much more is... THE FANS!!!!!!!!!! We put up with the shit years and decades of frustration. These players are here for a contract or maybe their playing career. We are here for LIFE!!!!
You mean wanting to be the second highest paid RB behind only Marshall Faulk is what playing like a Jet really meant?
Overwhelmingly Klecko for first choice. Second choice Martin. Third choice a tie between Toon and Chrebet.
I voted Curtis, but my 2nd would be Mo Lewis. That guy was here through all the terrible mid-90's and was pretty much the only bright spot on the whole team.
I think the most depressing press conferences in any sport that I ever saw was the post game after the doug brien playoff loss in 04. Curtis Martin was absolutely crushed and he, almost angrily, looked at the camera and just said. The older you get, these loses hurt more. You wonder if its ever gonna happen. ... and then you knew it was never gonna happen for him. But in NY, I feel the worst for Ewing, even though thats basketball.
Curtis Martin is my all time favorite player. Severely underrated. He was like the Brett Favre of RB's as far as playing through injury. the vision, the toughness, the consistency. I hope Zach Thomas gets his knee blown out. I'll never forget when he went down for the last time. fuckin a man.....
You nailed this one. When it comes down to it, players come and go.... We need this. I dont give a shit who is wearing a jets jersey when it happens.
