The Wilson to Jets rumors have come from a lot of different sources. Can you show how you know they're all just parroting what Cimini thinks? You think Wilson getting picked #2 is -5000 in sportsbooks simply because Cimini thinks he'll be the pick...?
I can quite comfortably state that Vegas odd makers avail themselves with better information than anyone in the NFL business and wouldn’t give two hoots about what Cimini thinks.
I think it’s silly to get a haul of picks and then trade that haul of picks away to move up to get a QB next year. We are in the drivers seat to get a great QB now why not go for it? Also we have 21 picks in the next two years. Of course more is always better but Douglas has enough picks to turn this team around right now.
The more I think about it the biggest concern for me is which QB will start the season for the NYJ and why isn't he on the roster yet? . Because IMO is highly unlikely nor prudent for one of the rookies that we have been reading so much about on this forum, over 64 pages worth so far of viewers repeating literally the same pros and cons or luck thereof depending on personal preference and in some cases even with extreme bias. The fact that whatever player JD picks is good enough for many here is clearly quite unacceptable to others. None of which of course has provided zilch visibility about JDs intentions nor the plan ahead for the vet mentor/starter in 2021.
Ok, I hear you but that is a poor comparison with QBs you mentioned. The Jets are the only team to have burned through 11 qbs since 1999. I mean come on. Can we stop drafting QBs after 11 to 16 games iin college? Also my point at the start of this thread is that not that Sam is the panacea to the Jets problems but that worse case we load up on picks and pick a QB next year. For what is worth Payton Manning kinda sucked the first three years so did Bradshaw who I watched from when he entered the league. We have no decent CBs, no pass rush, need another safety, two guards, RT, C and a partridge and pear tree. I just think we have a shit load of holes to fill and trading the pick would have helped. Also Wilson is kinda wimpy in stature and has already had rotator cuff surgery. I tore my labrum and let me tell you my shoulder still hurts. Wait until a 280 lb end shakes the pins off his repaired shoulder.

Look at all the successful teams that have used that model though.Starting w KC.GB..others. The idea is 2 fold. 1. Use picks to improve the roster to better equip QB to succeed.So when he walks in day 1 & the Johnsons want to thrust him into the limelight he can actually have a fighting chance to succeed. 2. Identify the first truly ELITE QB talent that the coaches like & pounce w all the ammo it takes.W the understanding a roster is now in place to support them.Maybe not perfect.But far better equipped than currently. If FInding the FQB while also re-equipping this entire roster is the commin goal..why does this model fail? Why isnt it worth the majority of the picks to execute whats needed?

And both teams had their QB sit for at least a year. Wilson might not have that luxury. The fanbase and media will clamor for him to start on day 1.
Your 100% correct.And thats part of my point.If theyre gonna do that it makes more sense to make sure a proper starting line up is in place.Acouple rookie guards & a day 3 TE/WR doesnt change that
Darnold was QB for 3 years of what’s arguably been the worst era of Jets football of all time. Douglas could probably smell the Jets stench in Philly and no matter how you cut it Darnold contributed to that funk. He had to go. People think he’s a stand up guy and that’s wonderful. Terrific. Good to have those kinds of people around. But you need a leader behind center, and Darnold never lead anything or anyone when it came to the Jets. No fire. Never got in anyone’s face. Why? He never earned the right too. Horrible deep ball. Terrible field vision. Horrendous footwork. Stared people down all the time. Etc. He was just a shitty quarterback here and thats how he’ll be remembered by most Jets fans.
