I was a Cutler fan who realized that dream just couldn't happen (too many other needs). D'Brick was the right pick. Remember, the '06 draft was LOOOOOOOOOOOOADED. We could look back and say "damn, should have got Cutler" or "damn, should have gotten Ngata" but it's all pointless. We got our own good player, and now we have the foundation of a very good OL. LT and C are just two huge pieces. It does suck to see how much of an animal Ngata is. At Oregon he was just so big and athletic and BIG with a motor that didn't die. He's probably been Baltimore's best defender this year too.
j.ogden as a left tackle...not fatbody...we need a guy who can pass protect and run block. we need him now, both ways. we didnt need a 4-5 year "maybe gonna be a decent LT" project. especially with the 4th overall pick. tackles are tackles league wide. nose tackles for the 3-4 dont grow on trees in the pro's or college. so i guess filling half a hole, still leaves us with one and a half? no NT for the 3-4 and a LT who is a project in a sense. its too late we will never know now.
Ferguson has been helpful, but he has not stood head and shoulders above other recent high LT pics, which he arguably should have given his slot. In fact Mangold has been the better player.
