You never know. That's what I hate about the Mitchell Report, all it does is list a lot of players that we know (or at least think we know because I would not be surprised if some of these names were made up because he was facing jail time...look at Brian Roberts or Todd Williams or even David Justice). Piazza could have just had another dealer. ARod could have another dealer. Pedro could have another dealer. Pujols could have another dealer. Jeter could have another dealer. Do I think any of them used steroids? No. Do I have any proof that either one did or didn't? No. Do I know there are other players out there who used steroids that I don't have the proof for? Yes. That's why such an incomplete report was stupid.
Don't they have the guy saying he provided Clemens with the roids himself? That's direct evidence, not hearsay. You may have an issue with his credibility, but thats something else.
And for the rest of the world? You know - everyone sitting outside the walls of Donville, USA. That tricky division title that screws up the whole joke, I'll have them take care of that.
I think Pettitte's admission validates the Mitchell report for credibility. I think the Clemen's lawsuit should be interesting.
I have to agree about the credibility though he took a chance releasing his name solely on the dealers word...
I heard that fat asshole francessa the other day talking about clemens and I htink he makes sense...he says clemens wont sue because he did steroids number 1 and wont win number 2....he figures he will politic as much as possible and verbally defend himself to at least create doubt in as many minds as possible as to whether he did roids...because right now francessa says, "the only person in America who doent think clemens did roids is Don"....thought it was pretty cool that TGG got a shout out
The problem w/ the report is it only caught a fraction of the users. The only name that was shocking(this going back to a year ago when his name surfaced)was pettitte but he gives a reasonable explanation. Andy still deserves to be suspended for a little while so I am not condoning what he did but I don't believe he was a hard core user like it appears Clemens was, like Bonds was, McGwire was, Ortiz, etc..
Roger Cosack said the same thing, Clemens will talk but he and his lawyers know there is no way they'd win. Apparently it's very hard to win a slandering case and the thing is there aren't too many sports fans that believe Clemens wasn't juicing. He like Bonds was a HOF before he began cheating and he may have destroyed that because of his ego. Not much different than Bonds although I don't think Clemens took it because he was jealous of press other people were getting. While I think both are terrible people I'd bet Clemens gets into the HOF before Bonds simply because more people like him..... oh and he's white.
interesting except from Filip Bondy's article in Sunday's New York Daily News... "You could practically field an entire team of alleged drug-using ex-Yankees. There were four or five starters, a couple of relievers, three infielders and five outfielders. You'd start David Justice and Gary Sheffield out there, maybe platoon Rondell White and Jose Canseco. There were big-name Yankees, including Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, Kevin Brown, Jason Giambi and Chuck Knoblauch. And there were lesser players, such as Denny Neagle and Randy Velarde. There were Yankees who reportedly used steroids, and other Yankees who experimented early on with undetectable human growth hormones. There were Yankees everywhere in this report, enough of them to taint their run a bit in the late 1990s and early 2000s. And of course it was easy to misread these revelations, to scream about a conspiracy. George Mitchell is a director of the Boston Red Sox, but only a diehard fan would believe this was some kind of vendetta on his part."
^ it wasnt a yankee witch hunt. its obvious that the list was very new york centric because of the people who spoke to mitchell!!!
this is really a silly comment. No one said taking steroids or anything else will instantly transform you into a great player. So since Lansing was doing PEDs and didn't become a superstar, that means they can't help you? If I took HGH, anabolic steroids, and all the other crap Bonds has been taking, I still wouldn't be a good baseball player. Does that prove anything? no.
Clemens just unequivocally denied taking any banned substances during his career, including steroids and HGH
