If the Jets were 'tired' they would have been getting blown off the line of scrimmage...they weren't.

They were just sloppy. I have no f****** idea why.

I was also discouting tiredness. As I said there was no reason to think they should have been any more tired than in playing NE.

I know from sports history how finally overcoming a hated rival can actually work against you.

Back in the late seventies in MLB the Yankees and the Kansas City Royals dominated the American League. For three straight years the Yankess beat KC in the Championship Series. In 79 neither team made it to the championship series, but both were back again in 1980. The Yankees had won six more games in the regular season, and also based on their beating KC three straight times before, were heavily favored to do it again.

They didn't. In fact the Yankees were swept by KC.

So KC finally made it to the World Series, having crushed the hated Yankees, the team that stopped them from advancing three straight times. Having finally made it, what did they do? They lost to Philly 4 games to 2. Among other notable circumstances Willie Wilson of the Royals, who had 230 hits in the regular season, struck out 12 times, a Series record.

So, after finally getting past the Yankees, KC made it to the World Series. And fell flat.

They did finally win it in 85, though.
