And one more thing, I was going to give the Jets out based on a drawing of every GM involved. It wouldn't be fair to just take the Jets myself, so I'll pick one of the 16 at random, so everyone has a chance.
I like the idea of a consensus Jets draft... Just a thought: It might be pretty cool if once the 16 GMs are selected, there is some kind of random selection for teams. Nobody puts in a request or anything, just random. It might be a little dumb, but cool. Just a thought....
Both of those ideas are intriguing. I wouldn't mind doing either depending on what the rest of the people involved thought. The latter is a bit less likely because everyone likes controversy, and it's just fun to argue for or against picks, especially the Jets.
Soon man, calm down. Don't worry, we have time before the real draft starts; once I make sure everything's in order, then we'll start.
We're at 16 right now based on my count, and all 16 that signed up I'm fairly comfortable with. I sent out a couple PMs, hopefully I get those back soon so I know we're ready to roll.
Thanks WW. Also, everyone let me know what you thought about PA's ideas about all teams being selected randomly, as well as the Jets being majority rather than one GM.
I like the idea of 2 Teams per person. I'm not in favor of a majority vote for the Jets' pick...it can influence a GM's pick for another team. Wanting the Jets to take a certain player...so he's available for your team............not knowing what the next team is doing is the process of the draft. I believe we need to pick the Jet's GM "out of a hat" and keep at least 5 picks between the same GMs.
WW just showed me the link to Jabba's mock over at JI, and many of the same rules he used over there should apply to ours as well. So without further ado, and thanks to Jabba, the base rule set for the mock. Just let me know if you all think anything should be changed. I made a few changes already so the numbering, etc. might be off. Also, we're going to establish the precedent that once a person makes their pick, they will PM the next GM in line so there's no excuses for not knowing you're up. 1. Between the Hours of 8 AM and 1 AM each GM has up to four hours to submit his pick, but that does not mean he has to take all four hours ... the faster you can make the pick, the sooner we can keep the chain moving ... if you are an hibitual four hour man, you will be replaced upon my discretion 2. The clock stops at 1 AM and restarts again at 8 AM, so if you go OTC at oh say, 10 PM, you will have until 9 AM the next morning to submit your pick, that would equal four hours in total when the clock is active 3. YOU MAY continue to submit picks after 1 AM, that just means the clock is inactive, but YOU CAN continue to submit picks if it's your turn and you're still awake ... in fact, please do! 4. If your pick is approaching and you realize you may not be available to make the pick in a timely fashion, or make the pick at all, it is your responsability to find a poster you can rely on to submit the pick on your behalf ... you can either send him your picks via PM or simply allow him to make the choice as he sees fit, but the responsability is YOURS 5. If you miss one pick you get a warning, if you miss two picks YOU'RE OUT. * You all saw my part about the I Suck list. 7. As Commish I reserve the right to change the rules as I see fit and toss someone as I see fit ... for example, if you miss one pick and are not heard from till the next time you go OTC, you will not be given a second chance to stall the draft for another four hours ... in that case you will simply be replaced the moment you go back OTC, because you have clearly disappeared 8. Let's keep it fun ... good natured ribbing is acceptable and part of the fun, but mean-spirited flaming is not ... I know the difference and I WILL DECIDE if that line has been crossed, and you cross it at your own peril 9. If you are not a newbie and you have PM privledges, please make sure your PM's are activated and your mailbox is not maxed out ... this so we can alert you when you go OTC ... and if you do not have PM privledges, it is your responsability to be extra diligent and check the board as often as possible 10. If you know someone is OTC, please PM that person and alert them ... do not wait for someone else to do it 11. If the clock expires on a GM, the first pick made for that team by one of the other GMs or commissioners will stand. 13. If you are on the board when you are OTC, and you split without submitting your pick, clock or no clock that is grounds for immediate dismisal 15. If a replacement GM is required we will use the STANDBY LIST in the TEAMS/GM's and Standbys thread, which can be located at the top of page one, under the list of TEAMS/GM's. The order will be taken into consideration, but in the interest of time not at the expense of availability. In other words, if the first standby is not here when a replacement is needed {i.e. when that team is on the clock}, we will simply look for the next in line, or the following standby, until we have secured an available standby at that precise moment .. but if the team in question is not on the clock, we will simply send the first standby a PM and wait for his response. If he has not responded by the time that team goes OTC, the process of finding an available standby, AS DESCRIBED, will immediately commense
