We have a GM, his name is Rex Ryan. Woody is searching for an assistant who can make the phone calls, fetch the coffee, and every once in awhile go on Mike Francesa's show to get talked down to.

Precisely, they are looking for a super-scout type - not a GM - Jet already has a GM and his name is Rex Ryan. I wouldn't be surprise if the Jets are lowering the salary expectations of the new comer by saying Rex is the GM, but you have the title even though in reality you are a scout - a high pay one - but lower paying than a normal GM. Tanny is still getting paid so Woody has to save money somewhere. Lets see which chump walks through the door finally.

    god help us.

I do not believe Woody can be that stupid, RR is a excellent good DC, some people believe he has vision enough to be a HC (i am not one of them), but GM wow.

thankfully the Jets management is not nearly as dumb as the Jets fan base as expressed on this board

the season ended a frigging week ago

virtually ALL of the excellent GM candidates are STILL AVAILABLE

yet the impatient mob of kneejerkers fueled by their sport talk radio and media "experts" are in a full fledged state of panic and fear

Take your time, Jets and get the right guy -- Thank you

Haha, why not compare the opposite? Darksiders looks at bright sunny sky and see clouds and storms ahead. The fact that people criticize every single detail of everything this organization ever does gets old fast. I just don't understand the motivation to constantly live in negativity. If somebody suggests that taking your time to do something right is good, you paint them as green tinted glasses as if it's standard to assume the worst about everything. Interesting. I like the pictures though. Very creative so you get points for that :)

Who is really in charge now ? Thats the question. The longer this takes the more all potential good to great options will be lost. But there is a silver lining too, as far as GMs are concerned look at teams Pro Bowl Rosters, not records. Teams are still firing coaches so there also may be to get a good one. If the firing stops, Woody better come up with something ASAP, if he's in charge.

    Odd?

    Not at all

More like the way good organizations in all businesses including sports recruit qualified execs

Slow deliberate and with due diligence.

I guess some here wouldn't have preferred the kneejerk method former owner Leon Hess used when he was told by his daughter that Rich K_____ had been fired by the Eagles

That's right. From Defensive Coordinator to General Manager. It's a meteoric rise for sure. Sometimes the Peter Principle is ignored.

What's odd is that Rex's staff can't get outta dodge fast enough. Those that weren't fired must have had plans to jump ship before the season was over and perhaps those last few games sealed the deal.

That's right, all the potential GM's are running through brick walls to be a part of this very successful thing that Rex and Woody have going on. Who wouldn't want to be involved with a genius like Rex Ryan? Look at them all salivating at this wonderful opportunity to run a NY franchise. Look at them all!!!

That's not entirely true. Saban brings in one or two 5-star recruits every now and then, but much of his success has stemmed from coaching up 3 star recruits and inserting them into the well-oiled machine that is Alabama football.

He doesn't get nearly the talent of schools like Florida or Texas. Greg McElroy and AJ McCaron are perfect examples of this.
