Becton has said that he is working to get his playing weight down around 250, not 260 [EDIT: that should be"350, not 360"]. That doesn't sound like a player who will eat himself out of the league. He has also put it out there that no one is gonna hit Sam on his watch. I love that attitude. While he's learning, he may be like Thomas was at Georgia, i.e., not pretty, but he always found a way to get the job done. I think that's what Becton will do temporarily until he refines his technique.
I have visions of Macc sitting last year at 3 & unable to move only because he was asking for entirely way too much back in a trade.
you bring up good points. from his comments about character, i'm hoping JD did his diligence on this guy to confirm his commitment to conditioning will extend past combine and into his professional life And the other good reminder: this guy is like 364 with 17% bf, which is lean for an OL. He is just a massive person even by OT standards
At 350 he would be a good looking tackle--and move like lightening. It would be nice to scoop up Clowney, just for the sake of having him get some good reps in at camp!
If Becton ever gets to 250 or 260 it will be a modern day miracle I think you meant 350. He's a mauler. I agree he will do what he needs to until he gets more polished.
