my whole thing was ALMOST EVERYBODY simply assumed it was LT who was gonna move tho it was never stated/declared by anybody in the JETS CS
AVT was pretty versatile and played RG in college too. this is form when we drafted him I'm guessing they talked to him and he didn't mind the switch at all. JD was 2 steps ahead when we drafted him.
Love the strategy, love the though process, and there is no doubt in my mind this was well coordinated with the players. Pass rush optimum blocking on the left, massive run blocking improvement on the right. These moves are not a downgrade to anyone but rather significant upgrades to the entire OL by a bunch. We can not sit here and on one hand say "this is all about helping Wilson succeed" and not like the rearranging to the OL. Its a win win. Our OL barring injuries will be vastly improved. Incidentally, likelihood of a OL pick in the first round has diminished substantially, short of something drastically wrong with Becton. It now begs the questions were do we go at 4 if the top two edges are gone. cant wait.
Tomlinson played RG all 4 years at Duke. It's my understanding that AVT only played RG his freshman year at USC. Still, one of the things that make AVT so desirable is his versatility. I may be mistaken, but think he played every position but C at USC. They may feel like it's easier for him since he's younger and so versatile, and with Tomlinson making the Pro Bowl last year at LG, it makes sense for him to stay there.
Not necessarily. They could have been fine with AVT at LG until the opportunity came to add Tomlinson who made the Pro Bowl at LG last season. AVT is known for his versatility, whereas Tomlinson has played LG his entire time in the NFL.
