Nice reminder that the football gods are completely against us. Good for Joe Flacco; If he had come to the Jets we would have ruined his career. This team and Town needs one bad ass player to overcome the amount of negative energy and history this team is up against.
I don't watch college football, but when I look at Geno Smiths stats, I can't understand how he isn't being seen as a really good prospect. I get that they lost a few games at the end of the year, but looking at his numbers makes me dream of him falling to #9. Also, everyone is on Bridgewater and Manziel but their numbers don't even come close to Geno's. Obviously people that watch them play have a better view than me on them, so if anyone could let me know why Geno isn't being seen as an elite prospect that would be great.
Geno Smith is a senior. Manziel is a freshman and Bridgewater is a sophmore. They're better than Geno Smith was at that stage of his career. Not to mention that when you add in Manziel's rushing, he's got better numbers.
I don't know how many West Vriginia games people watched but they were TERRIBLE. Like GOD AWFUL and Smith put up 69–518 4205yds71.2% 42TD 6INT
What was I fucking retarded? Kellen Clemens wouldn't have been good if he had the best o-line and receiving core in the history of the national football league... Damn good observation on Flacco tho Murrell.
2 observations: - prior to this post-season pretty much no-one but Flacco saw him as a top tier QB - it was funny to see people talking about snagging him in the 4th round when he went half way through the 1st round
I guess what this really shows is how difficult it is to predict how a QB will play once in the NFL...
Flacco somewhat pulled an Eli this year in turning a season where everyone wanted to eject him into a SB victory. I think the common thread with both of those teams is that the QBs had a big arm and the ability to take over games when properly coached / executing. Simultaneously though, neither of those guys ARE the team. If either one of them weren't surrounded by the talent that they had, then they likely would not have gone all the way and been in real jeopardy of being run out of town. The Tom Brady's and Peyton Manning's of the world are very rare. Even Peyton only has one SB victory to his credit. To win a SB you first need the QB in place who has the ability to do it, but then you need to load the rest of the team with talent. Jets have a LONG way to go right now.
I don't think we persue any offensive talent untill Wrecks is looking for another job. He is incapable of developing offensive talent, or aquiring it. Giving him new players to under develop, while he has his head in the defensive playbook. The reason we are in the position we are in offensive talent wise is because of Wrecks. Hopefully we loose everytime this year and get a good draft pick, and Wrecks moves on.
If we get Geno I would be happy, but I think he will be gone by the #9 pick. We will play Sanchez, suck, and get the number one pick in 2014. That's why I want WR Cordarrelle Patterson drafted so that when we get Teddy Bridgewater next year he has Hill and Patterson for targets.
it really is...outside of the "sure bets" (which i put in quotes) that come around once in a while, its really a crap shoot...there are so many variables outside of the players control, such as team, coaching, system etc. You can only take educated guesses especially when it comes to the QB position.
You draft skill players and offensive lineman in the meantime. Don't pursue any offensive talent? Really? We've also had shitty OCs and QB coaches also. It's not just Rex. If Rex is gone, everyone will complain about the defense.
If Rex hasn't learned that he can't compete with a gimped team by now, maybe what you say has a merit. We will see if that is the case. (I'm thinking, though, that's a bit premature to say. His hiring of Mornhinweg says otherwise to me.)
Flacco throws more deep passes than Sanchez ever throws. In 2009 and 2010 Sanchez was connecting bombs to Edwards. Edwards, had some off the field issues and Tanny decides to lock up Holmes and forgo Edwards and offensive line losses. Sanchez gets tee'd off on in 2011, Schotty leaves, new OC comes in, Holmes (pussy) injured, no changes to o-line, Tebow is brought in with all the tebots, We all blow up.
This is on Rex and Tanny. They both made the decision to draft sanchez and then not go all in on his development. Their talent acquisition strategy basically made Sanchez a replacement for Favre rather than the qb of the future. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
Because Jets fans will poo-poo any idea to bring in legit talent while singing the praises of complete scrubs. Geno Smith had no defense, his team was terrible, he WAS the team, guy is beast, if he falls to 9 I would draft him in a minute, but he won't.
